There are tens of millions of people fraudulently receiving Social Security payments according to the genius minds of DOGE, led by our Dark Shadow President, The Elon. Or not. Actually, it could be that the CoderJugend and Musk himself are basically innumerate with regards to government processes and legacy computer systems that are basically a palimpsest of changes in technology and law going back decades.
They could have requested some sort of agency-related sherpas to guide them through the mountains of data they were reviewing to not seem like hot messes, but somehow Trump was compelled to fire various inspector generals who would be those exact people, except they were kind of investigating Trump and Musk variously for just being all kinds of fraudulent little billionaire monsters.
Being a shadow president is nice work if you can get it. Imagine feeling the freedom to fire bunches of FAA professionals because you've convinced a daft senile old man under so many indictments that you can do amazing AI things with the cyber.
And being sociopathic enough to giggle your way through the rapid unscheduled disassemblies that may occur along the way!
But it's ok! Because TrumpWorld and the Twitterverse are conditioned to treat Musk like his dick is constructed like a tandem bicycle with infinity seats for all his potential dick-riding needs. (We at Strangely Blogged Enterprises reject linking to the internet rumor that Musk's wedding tackle is as adjustable as his hairline and that he favors IVF for mechanical reasons. We only cite this scurrilous bullshit because it is hilarious.)
Imagine being able to sanction your home country for ending apartheid. Imagine being able to finagle additional private government contracts because you wrecked existing taxpayer value. Imagine letting some little racist Pepe Head rifle through IRS data--
Here's an apropos graphic:
Now Elon is talking about probationary periods in government employment and statistics in government benefit programs/taxation credits and is introducing his "kids" to IRS data, browsing and confidentiality regulations.
For one thing, probationary periods where Musk thinks he's good to fire employees like they are brand new is stupid, because let's say someone has been with the USG two dozen years and gets a new supervisory promotion. They are in a probationary period. Two dozen years of experience and training, but because they were recently promoted, Musk thinks they are the same as brand new--that's STUPID! Those people have rights to their employment. There is precedent. But the taxpayer confidentiality issue is a whole other thing.
Yeah, I figure this guy is a dumbass and will get his youth soldiers in dire legal peril.
He's playing with the Deep Magic, now. I go through several hours of training on the regular because dealing with protecting personal identifying government information is not ANY KIND OF JOKE. I get told on a yearly basis that fucking around in these waters has criminal and civil penalties and we do not disturb the Deep Magic of tax-related data. You just DON'T. If you are not IRS people, but just adjacent to IRS-shared IT datasystems, you are background-checked and finger-printed, and you understand you will not reveal, and will prove to conceal, any art or parts, under dire oaths, etc.
Why? Because the system depends on voluntary compliance. Most people get refunds after all. The federal tax system has many refundable credits like EITC and the Child Care tax credit. Broke people should love to file taxes! You know who hates the IRS?
Rich folks who pay what they think is exorbitant, but then again, they aren't living hand-to-mouth. Astroboy the Inseminator gets shittons of tax dollars to haul satellites and thinks we all should be making babies, but would greatly not prefer to subsidize any programs to help regular folk make their babies, like hospitals and IVF and insurance and whatnot.
If you are a middle-class working stiff married with no kids, you are subsidizing Elon Musk and are going to definitely pay more taxes. I checked. If you are 15 years out from retirement, you might even be worried about what wherewithal you will have. Because the funds your retirement is invested in is going to take a beating. And I dunno about social security anymore because of the aforementioned.
So, Musk and them are not rifling through IRS data for any good reason and definitely don't have your best interests in mind via Social Security, and he mostly plans to eradicate inspections into his weird science fiction business doings and will try to make more taxpayer money to not just be the richest guy around, but the richest guy imaginable.
If you have told yourself he's too rich to be beholden to anyone, you don't understand what megalomania is. It is entirely possible for someone to have too much, and it still isn't enough.
If you are clapping like a trained seal for this, God bless, but you are a weirdo and should be kept away from normal people who can still think for themselves. It is definitely not okay.
As to why Trump clings to Musk--he knows what Musk spent and thinks he is a genius with "the cyber". We all know that 2020 was not " rigged" but Trump both doesn't seem to know, and sort of knows. Musk must have told Trump he made 2024 happen. He spent a lot of money. He kind of did. But not the way Trump thinks, and maybe not even more than state GOP voter suppression laws and RU called-in bomb threats did.
I'd love it if Trump understood Musk was goldbricking and never did shit for him he didn't do for himself, but that isn't my problem. It would be great if the "elected president" shed us of this unelected ego monster who is frankly making Trump look very bad and very weak.
I'm Gen X, I never voted for Trump, but I'm living with the results of my stupid generational brethren who did. We're the sandwich generation--we are responsible for our Boomer elderly and maybe grown kids. We are coping with the signs of old age and the understandings of old (feminist, anti-racist, pro LGBT) rage. We have been here before, but so many of my Facebook-pilled idiot cohort acted brand new this election, and in 2016.
And that is how unelected Elon Musk becomes the real president. The exact guy our generation wasn't supposed to be--fuck you 45-65 year old motherfuckers if you have one good word to say about him.
He isn't better than us. He isn't the best of us. And he's fucking the rest of us.
I acknowledge that he is functionally doing the presidenting thing right now. The problem is--can we get him to stop before he fucks up too much? Because he's basically high all the time and pretty goddamn dumb, and if he would stop, it would be GREEEAAAAT.

Don’t count on (F)Elon getting stopped or the T**** admin agreeing to stop him anytime soon. He may be innumerate, but he knows how to ride T**** and keep in his good graces. The election purchase was just the beginning and has T**** salivating for more $$. The latest threats of primarying any maga rep who steps out of line has brought red congress to heel. They will vote to give him more contracts and ignore his systematic dismantling of government agencies.
Will my SS payment show up in my bank account tomorrow? Looks like crap shoot to me.
