TWGB: Look Who's Coming to the Doral

Stories about the Trump organization being fined $1.6 million for 17 felonies (overhead! practically a turnpike toll!) or Trump and his lawyers being sanctioned nearly a million dollars for a frivolous LOLsuit against Hillary Clinton and a whole cast of characters based on Trump's long-established grievances (as if the body of his one-time Twitter feed had coalesced itself into a legal document) are heart-warming, sure, but they leave me cold.

It only follows, as the night the day, that some degree of fucking around will get some finding out on the morrow. Do I find Trump's balance of FA to FO satisfactory?

I do not. He still gets around and has got some coming around.

This is why I am watching his re-election campaign such as it is find its footing with interest, because as he typed out on Truth Social, he has something wild planned at the Doral. Funny evocative world--wild. I remember when things were wild at the Willard and proceeded to get wilder at the Capitol. Surely, there's nothing intentional there?

But look who is coming to Doral! It's former General and Trump NSA Michael Flynn and the ReAwaken America circus!  It's a person some consider to be a traitor who has gathered election-deniers, Christian Nationalists, Qanon, and the Apocalyptic viewpoint of a showdown between good and evil, happening right here in the good old US of A.

What are we talking about--

Inside a revival tent set up outside, people sat in white folding chairs packed so tightly the rows between were nearly impassable. From the stage, speakers stirred up fear and hatred. Immigrants are rushing over the border “to take your place,” one said. Homosexuals and pedophiles are classified in the same category: sinful people who don’t honor God. Life-saving vaccines are creating “a damn genocide.” “The enemy wants to muzzle you,” another speaker warned. “He wants to shut your mouth.”

Clark, the Tour’s principal organizer and emcee, opened the Batavia show bellowing: “Good
morning, New York! And good morning, New York Attorney General Letitia James!” The
greeting was a reference to a letter James’ sent to Flynn and Clark warning them against violent or unlawful conduct.

“I want you to look around and you’ll see a group of people that love this country dearly,”
he said. “At this Reawaken America Tour, Jesus is King (and) President Donald J. Trump
 is our president.”

Yeah. This mindset disturbs me and has done for longer than Trump's first campaign--paranoia, conspiracy theories and End-Times thinking have long struck me as fertile ground for a hot culture war--a civil war in America based on, uh. How do I say this? Bullshit. People will literally be ready to go to war over bullshit. Like thinking vaccines are trying to turn them into soulless, easily-controlled robots .  They will do this without thinking because someone like Mike Flynn told them to

The movement Flynn has been involved with the lead in 2021 to angry school board meeting and death threats being hurled at school officials over lingering COVID-19 precautions and other grievances. This is the actual terroristic threats that the DOJ investigated which certain GOP politicians to this day refer to as "investigating concerned parents". Uh no. They are investigating potential domestic terrorists because even very nice parents can turn into very bad people once they've been told they are entitled to get their way by any means necessary. The anti-vax goons have blockaded hospitals and the same mindset has lead to bomb threats to hospitals over trans-inclusive medical care.

This could look from a certain remove someone is practicing undermining soft targets. Who knows about that sort of thing?

But here's a fascinating snippet from a speaker at this weekend's Great ReAwakening Tour, Leigh Dundas, who was associated with the People's Convoy movement, which mostly stopped traffic and ate up city resources while hassling local residents wherever they landed:

She's proud of working to create supply chain shortages to try and shut down the country.  At what part do these people seem to be encouraging actual acts of war against their own country? And how do these people think they are somehow "patriots"?

Well, it's because they are hopped up on 24/7 propaganda. But maybe Flynn's "Ciitzen's Guide" will convince them to "unplug"--now that the brain damage has been done, and to keep them siloed from the ranks of the normies who haven't been whatever-color-pilled this stuff is. (It's black-pilled. They saw a red pill and they wanted it painted black.)

Don Trump the Lesser and Eric the Weak have both spoken at these to-dos, but I think it's very different that Trump is hosting them at one of his own properties. Does this mean he's trying to get the pro-vax stink off of him? Enlisting the radicals? Cementing his place in the lore of what I think of as "messianic Trumpism"--the Return of the Jesus' Handpicked American King

(Many "prophetic" evangelists have claimed that Trump either never lost his election or is definitely getting reinstalled. This too is disturbing, because religious followers might seem themselves as being mandated from God to make the prophecy true.)

Many of these people seem wildly off-kilter--how is it that Robert Kennedy, Jr. has taken his anti-vax message to the kind of right-wing wankers who have come to believe that his uncle and cousin are still alive?  But what is the watchword of the times?

Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. It is dangerous not despite its absurdity, but because of it. They are clowns, but scary clowns--and I don't know what understanding people who don't really follow movement politics closely understand this. They don't understand that seemingly regular GOP pols like, say, Senator Ted Cruz or Rep. Elise Stefanik, know perfectly well this is what you've got hiding under the Astroturf on the TrumpWorld lawn.

It's disturbing, and it may mean nothing more than Flynn and company are willing to pay Trum rather a lot to be at Doral and Trump is lazy and out-of-touch enough to think this is going to count as a campaign event.

But I stay disturbed.
