All the videos of the Azerbaijan Airlines flight showing the damage show holes in the wreckage have entry holes on the port side and exit holes on the starboard side, likely with a slight angle from below. pic.twitter.com/z4NxEapLWd

Russia shot down that plane just like they shot down MH17 in 2014 and just like they shot down Korean flight 007 41 years ago. Soviet or Putin, we have a structure of murderousness and lying; and taking no responsibility for the loss of many human lives.
Russia needs disinformation to exist, and this is why I deplore the idea that the structure for seeking out disinformation is being dismantled in the name of "free speech." Democracy can only exist with a well-informed public, yet US conservatives like the idea of a disinformed public softened up by foreign powers because they have so far benefitted from it.
If I hadn't in the last 40 years of my political awareness seen a brilliant reason to not support the GOP ever--holy shit! Watergate, Iran/Contra and the yellow cake /WMD's lies are like tiddlers in comparison to any and every pretense that Russia is a reasonable honest nation we can do business with. We are absurdly weakened by such a stance.
We know full well they have interfered with elections in Europe, South America, and here in the US. To what purpose? So they can do whatever the hell they want! Violate human rights of their citizens and people who they seek a colonial relationship with. They want empire. And they have just lost, in Syria, a major access-point of that would-be empire.
I don't know when RU stops being defended anywhere so long as Putin is in power, yet stay in hope domestic unrest comes to him. The problem with Putin should not be about color revolutions, but people seeing who he is in pure black and white terms.
Although for the far-flung and disrespected people who serve in Putin's meatgrinder graded army. maybe it would be great for them to realize why the hinterlands serve more cannon fodder than Muscovy and near environs, nyet? Maybe it is time Moscow DID "taste the rainbow".
So what else have we come to find out about Russia--they seem to be cutting cables against law-abiding European nations. . And having ghost tankers trying to violate sanctions? And also turning to doing business in bitcoin to get around sanctions and the nasty devaluation of their currency?
They are "line-stepping". They want provocation to be ignored to feel powerful. Putin has been coasting on western unwillingness to fuck his shit all the way up.
I think when payment is overdue it is only right to repay with interest.
They have shown us who they are.
Maybe the devil deserves his due.
UPDATE: This is a cultural issue.
This is essentially everything one needs to know about contemporary Russia.

Days after Russia downed YET ANOTHER passenger jet in the Caspian Sea region, it releases this “holiday video” in which “NATO” Santa congratulating Russians on New Year’s Day gets shot down and killed.… pic.twitter.com/Ns4eiunJe1
