Coleoptera

Minus the Southern patois that sounds like Senator John Kennedy as rendered by bad AI, Donald Trump talking about groceries sounds like Jerry Lewis talking about "coleoptera" at about 2 minutes in.

Just so we are clear, Trump thinks no one can afford bacon and we need to show ID at the grocery store to buy anything.  But long story short, if we made more gas and had less windmills and had huge tariffs on food not made here, you could probably buy a banana for ten dollars. Isn't that what a banana should cost?

Now, I totally understand how windmills are killing the pork industry because that is exactly what you would expect--when pigs fly. Somewhere in Trump's mind, he's got it imbedded that if the costs for goods in the US market were higher because of tariffs, they (I think, China) would have to produce at a lower cost, which means they deregulate (snerk), and try to whoop up more "productivity" at lower costs from their workers.

And I bet you can figure out what happens next and Trump won't because his brain doesn't work. (Also, he can't remember his first term and we can read what happened to the trade deficit he thought he was trying to close with a trade war with the help of a thing called Google.)  China gets it because they don't fuck about with human rights, and in the meanwhile, Project 2025 is bad for workers and the economy, and this nonsense is how it happens. And then we all eat bad lunchmeat we could just about afford and die of listeria.

OK--maybe I'm exaggerating.  But just a little bit and that is crazy!

I am still trying to figure out why we are taking the "can't run a charity because of fraud" guy who actually bankrupted casinos seriously. But here we are.

Joe Biden's apparent "decline" was because he had somewhere to decline from. Trump has always been full of hot air, it just used to sound a lot less like random car backfiring. But really, listen. "Concepts of a plan" makes more sense than Trump's actual plans.

And when Trump gets to explaining, he sounds not just like he didn't understand the assignment, it's like he hasn't even been to class. Or maybe he was just in some kind of class by himself.

We really deserve better. Jerry Lewis was trying to be funny. Trump isn't.
