Imagine someone in their teenage years won a whole fucking Star Search category for Mediocre White Male and thought that actually made them sufficient in their own right to judge someone who spearheaded a movement for civil rights, and said, aloud, "Nah, who's that?" because maybe, just maybe, he knew exactly how to speak to people not of his milieux about whom they should and should not admire--and he wanted them to vote Republican.
You know, to the extent his party wants Black people to vote at all or have their votes counted.
Anyway, when I think of this big-headed manchild with a bad gum-to-chiclet ratio, I recently think about how his quotes about the estimable Ketanji Brown-Jackson sums up everything in this worldview: He doesn't realize that successful Black people were saying they got the foot in the door they needed to demonstrate they could do the work.
Then they did the work. If they were not capable of the work, they would have crapped out. And still, they rose.
Charlie Kirk decided to take wingnut welfare instead of finishing community college. I promise you, I do not know that there are fields in which he'd have been successful doing valid work, so he does whatever this is. Encouraging mediocre white kids of America to close their minds, leave college, have shit tons of kids and vote Republican, I guess. A message some white rich folks feel is worth six figures a year--
To just go around and be a disgruntled mediocre white male, having experienced no hardship whatsoever and with exactly no one threatening his life or that of his family for any "truth" he was saying. And getting to be so side-by-side with actual white supremacists.
Now, I'd have much rather not mentioned this slice of right-wing stupidity, but it bothered me that on this day, this guy felt he had to make his point as a white person when there are Black people so much better at being destructive to what Martin Luther King, Jr. stood for. He just doesn't understand how they are doing that work all the time that he just periodically turns his big old head to, with more charisma and talent.
White privilege in action, everyone. It's bringing down the tone of the Caucasian situation all over the place. It's not even new.
