Joe Biggs, a Proud Boys leader who had been convicted of seditious conspiracy, was sentenced today to 17 years in federal prison — one of the longest January 6th sentences.

 UPDATED: So, Joe Biggs broke down and cried a bit at his sentencing hearing because his kids wouldn't have him around. Wild if he didn't know that could happen before he allegedly was "seduced by the crowd." but we know it wasn't the crowd he was seduced by, right? Dominic Pezzola and Ethan Nordean--same story, right? Sentenced (to less than what DOJ wanted) with tearful family in attendance. Where are they going to be, as fathers, husbands, sons of elderly parents?

Here's what Pezzola's wife had to say:

Pezzola's wife, Lisa Magee, said that her daughters "have become victims and harassment, bullying at school." His daughter said, "Take a look at my father, and then take a look at me. I am everything good … I'm a college student, a scientist… I don't do drugs, I don't drink, and he contributed to that." 

Magee also said that she's been "financially destroyed by this, adding that "it's a struggle for me to find out how I am going to feed them. I have had to rely on the generosity of strangers." 

That's what his actions did to their family.

Not to just dump on Proud Boys, Connie Meggs, wife of Kelly Meggs of the Oath Keepers, had some reflection on her man:

“I was trusting my husband to keep us safe,” Meggs said. “He’s put our whole family through hell.”

Sure, she's a grown woman. And her spouse thought he was Doing a War. Playing soldiers in real life.

And don't get me started on what the hell Stewart Rhodes did to his family in many ways.  

Conservatives who want to go off about a crisis of manhood could look past guys who blow off steam with video games and porn and look at these cosplay commandos who get wrapped up in political fanfiction and buy rifles like collectible toys in case of a "Red Dawn" scenario because they never grew up beyond thinking putting on your very best khakis with an intent to kick Commie ass does so make one a "Freedom Fighter." Did literally ANY of the claims made by Trump 2020 about election fraud or "Stopping the Steal" make literal sense? Was the corrupt pussy-grabber they supported the avatar of White Christianity and the standard-bearer worth fucking up their lives for?

Because the legal system isn't doing anything about these dopes for being "Trump supporters." It's the stupid ways they went about it--by breaking actual laws. By going to the Capitol and planning to do that. And whining that they are being railroaded or trying to save face by proclaiming "Trump won!" isn't a mature response to anything. 

It's being a manbaby.

What if being a "man" was simply being a masculine adult who was mature enough to be present for his family, and took care of goddamn business like a man? Because these guys didn't think any of this through. They choose violence because it looked mas macho. 

It really makes one wonder what these Boys are Proud of, and what Oath some folks thought they were Keeping? (White supremacy, fascism, violence. The Dark Side of Wild Boys with terminal Peter Pan syndrome.)
