Ukraine and the Dubious Ally that is Us

 

I chose an image from FOX Mushroom Farm (you can't honestly call them a news network) because Tucker Carlson is for some reason, the Voice of Russia on the pretend-news. He loves being Russia's mouthpiece. He is the Father Coughlin of Neville Chamberlains. He's so in love with Putin that all that Putin wants to do is all right with him. He will appease this dodgy ex-KGB asshole until his tongue is sore and his throat hurts. He loves him some big Vlady Daddy energy, And of course, he wants to spotlight Kevin McCarthy's muse, Marjorie Taylor Greene (who incidentally wants a civil war that would weaken the homeland), who is supposedly not an entire moron with an ugly soul when she calls a man trying to keep his country alive while his people are being genocided a "pimp".

There's a part of me that could watch both of these soulless fucks get sledgehammered into oblivion and sleep as soundly as if the Baby Jesus gave me heaven's own propofol.  

There's another part of me that knows that sledgehammers don't operate themselves. 

Anyway, a year ago, Russia engaged in a full-scale assault on a country that didn't do anything but try to repulse an ongoing incursion into Crimea, Donbas, etc. just an ugly little conflict where Ukrainians were dying because Putin wanted it that way. The same Putin who had been strategically fucking with Western governments to try and get the most favorable to his fuckery types of people in office. You know--right wingers. The way we think he sponsored Trump. Like they keep doing. 

Lots of pundits thought it wasn't going to be a whole invasion, but the Biden Administration knew it was, and said so. And in real time called out the Russian lies. Ukraine is a democratic and free country, and Putin is a shitty ass dictator. There isn't a comparison. If MTG wants to talk about whether there's something dodgy about Zelenskyy having formerly been an actor, she can take that up with Ronald Reagan in the afterlife. We could also comment on her formerly being a trampoline in a CrossFit gym, but we are too refined for that conversation. But it's really rich for her gorilla-girl face to pretend Zelenskyy is a pimp, or for anyone to criticize a man at war for dressing like he means to be a part of that war with his people and not a "suit"--an executive somehow beyond it. 

This is a man who said he didn't want a ride, but ammunition, and meant it. He is for real. Carlson and MTG--these are fakes. One shitty propagandist with a face only a mother could abandon and one bored real housewife who turned to conspiracy theories and politics when boinking randos no longer gave her the serotonin rush she needed to live with her inadequate self. 

Anyway, there are right wing utter diseased appendages who have no concept of right and wrong who will simply side with Russia because they perceive that Democrats in this country have sided with Ukraine--no principle involved, no concept of international alliances or foreign relations, just la-ti-da--opposite of Democrats. Trolling. Owning libs. Argh.

And that this country produced things like that is just gross and disgusting to me. Of course, the real world matters. People matter. The Russian fascists bombed maternity hospitals and then lied about dead women and their lost babies. They bombed schools. They made cities unlivable. They killed men in the streets in Bucha. They rape women and kidnap babies. 

And somehow Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Greene can support these monsters and not be spat on wherever they go. Can be prosperous citizens, fat and happy. Knowing no privations. Feeling no shame. While supporting an enemy of our country--just because he supports the political party they serve, because their party is also soulless, mercenary, and doesn't care about consequences--just power. 

And they say horrific things and smile and laugh. And are Americans in as much good standing as I am, even as they hate the America I know and love and all the things it stands for. Maybe in better standing than me, because they are rich. And dumb and capable of invalidating the good word of the United States rather publicly. As 47 dumbass Ronin pointed out in a letter to the leadership of Iran, you can sign the JCPOA, but a future GOP administration will surely invalidate it. And it was so. We can support Ukraine and the cause of freedom today--but tomorrow?

The display of dumbfuckery the GOP have engaged in over Ukraine lately, pretending that Biden should not have turned up at this crucial time to support this nation but rather make a political statement at a disaster site, is the same feckless, foresightless bullshit. Since when did presidents turn up at any train derailment? Is this a thing? No--our Presidents are supposed to turn up for democracy, liberty, and stand against human rights abuses and oppression. At 1000+ train derailments a year, mostly because of capitalist greed, who could attend all that? 

But I appreciate the clarity with which we now can judge why there is no good reason to ever elect a Republican if we are concerned about foreign policy. And I am glad Biden is our president, and a good ally to a nation that deserves our support.
