That CRT/DEI Stuff Meant American History

The story of the Tuskegee Airmen doesn't take away from the story of America, it only challenges some of the myths of White America.  It stays a story about American greatness if we accept that they, like the Navajo code-takers, were a part of this nation's cherished diversity being a boon to us. Just like the story of Japanese-Americans who fought even while their families were interred by our government because of their patriotism.

Pete Hegseth is far too young to know about "That's no lady, that's my WAF" jokes. The Trump Administration fired a Coast Guard Admiral and maybe the reason was because she was a woman.  Was she the problem? Or was the problem--the metrics she supposedly failed by--culture war ideology that detracts from the actual mission to protect the homeland?

See, I was an adult when 9/11 happened and part of the failure to understand what went wrong was cultural--white people not hearing brown people. The further failures of the 9/11 mindset was looking everywhere else besides at simply monitoring real-ass threats. Most people's shoes and shampoo bottles and toenail clippers are not actually actionable. We take these off because of one guy.

How do we take terrorism prophylaxis seriously when it never looks serious to people living right now? Except it is more serious, because wow--the context of the world we live in? And the kids these days don't even know about how shit just used to be let's hijack a plane to Cuba when I was a kid.

Anyway--just to be extremely honest--if we cultivate not teaching the newbies how Tuskegee Airmen accomplished so much more with less--aren't we failing to tell them an American success story? Feels like a massive fail to me.

Black History IS American history. It includes a proud military history. We need to recognize and study on how diversity has been our strength, in line with our great national motto: E Pluribus Unum.

Trump will not steal our history from us.

UPDATE: Because I am exactly this person I am not forgetting when he in the face of our Native American heroes had to slam a White Senator with a racist native-belittling slur. (Leaving alone for the moment what "blood quanta" means for all of us in terms of heritage). He also slighted a Tuskegee airman by recognizing him. then awarding an utter racist with a medal.

Fuck Trump and the misappropriation of history he stands for, forever.
