Yesterday, the US House of Representatives finally passed a measure to send military aid to Ukraine after months of delay:
With an overwhelming vote, the $61 billion in aid for Ukraine passed in a matter of minutes, a strong showing as American lawmakers race to deliver a fresh round of U.S. support to the war-torn ally. Many Democrats cheered on the House floor and waved blue-and-yellow flags of Ukraine.
Aid to Israel and the other allies also won approval by healthy margins, as did a measure to clamp down on the popular platform TikTok, with unique coalitions forming to push the separate bills forward. The whole package will go to the Senate, which could pass it as soon as Tuesday. President Joe Biden has promised to sign it immediately.
It's pretty hard for me not to take notice that more Republicans voted against aid than for it, and what this situation is about. It might not just be the Freedom Caucus, but it especially is. Especially, and performatively BIG MAD is MTG.
It's hard to take her seriously, though:
The queasy-making question of "Are the Republicans corrupted by Putin?" is tough to suss out by looking towards Madame Space Lasers, the former Qanon conspiracist, for any signs that she's anything but an attention whore. But what about the rest of the "Freedom Caucus"?
You know, I don't trust a bunch of folks who want to go around with "Don't Tread on Me" flags who, in confrontation with a dictator (Putin, Orban, Trump), roll on their backs, fear-pee a little, and cringe "Step on me Big Daddy, make me do bad things." My very sad analysis of them is they don't need to be blackmailed and they don't need to be paid--they just are little bitches. Clay Higgins, Chip Roy, Greg Steube, etc. Just literally shitless because they lack the guts to contain any.
Remember the saying: "If you wonder what you would have done during WW2, look around because you're doing it now"? If someone's out there mealy-mouthed about whether our grandkids are paying for Ukraine to lose more slowly or whatever--that's the face of appeasement. If you're looking for alternate histories about how Ukraine isn't a real country and deserved to be invaded--I don't trust your ass when it's Poland's turn.
These same cowards were mad that some Ukraine supporters waved very little Ukrainian flags on the floor of the house. They supported the insurrectionist movement that brought huge Trump flags and Confederate flags into the Capitol--they don't get to dictate shit about what being a "Real American" is.
Anyway, I am glad that we are doing our part to assist the fighters of Ukraine against the genocidal idiot Putin.

Those upset by the Ukrainian flags in Congress after the funding bill passed are the same people who didn’t blink when trumpers smashed out the windows, smeared shit on the walls and paraded Confederate flags through the Capitol
Any vote in congress, there will always be politicians who will actually vote the way their constituents want them to.
There are a lot of people out there who listen to Ticker Carlson, and Trump and all of that and they are against Ukraine.
Every now and then we have to blame the voters, and not just the politicians who are forced to cater to them. Either that or blame Rupert Murdoch, as that gets a little closer to the problem.
