Imagine the wonderland this country is, because only here can a scrappy self-made grifter wake up one day going from bouncing rent checks to being a Wall Street success, achieve a good, solid education, run a charity, never experience discrimination as a gay person (probably because of being straight-married until just before running for office) with an incredible backstory of being descended from Holocaust survivors.
You can even largely self-fund your campaign for congress, or maybe, just with a lot of Russian oligarch money.
Yes. A GOP candidate probably backed with Russian oligarch money who does not seem to be the guy he represents himself as.
People can point fingers at whether the Democrats did enough oppo research or whether the local news media looked hard enough at this guy's campaign, but can we just admit that it's no accident someone like this crops up in the GOP?

Based on the amount of fraud, and the various types i.e. financial, identity, ancestry, beliefs Republicans concocted this character "George Santos" to enable attacks on the LGBTQ community (which Santos did in "giving full blown support" to Ron DeSantis) and to be a Ukrainian Holocaust descendent who *unfortunately* had to side with Putin against Ukraine and stop funding Ukraine's defense because Nazis.
I wonder what bullshit defense this puke will offer up in a week...
What defense? Probably: don't blame him, he's got a personality disorder as a result of trauma from losing his girlfriend up in Canada--you wouldn't know her.
His various identities feel like trolling--his bio has also shifted regarding whether he was born in the US or not. Which could be a simple error--I recall Obama's publisher had someone who obviously didn't read his bio mistakenly describe him as an immigrant in some publicity literature and the birther brigades folded it into their mythos. It's the worst kind of ID politics--"See! The liberals are attacking him because of who he is."
Well no, it's the obvious lying--and for me, where is the money coming from? I'm not seeing the RW showing any remorse for supporting an apparent fraud, though.
