Quick post--tonight the White House Twitter feed posted a picture of it snowing at the White House, and it's a nice picture. It was also about 70 degrees in DC today, so clearly, today was not the day of the first snow of the year in DC. But it's still a nice picture, and no where in the post is it indicated that it snowed today. The timing is a little off, but, whatever. It isn't necessarily gaslighting about the unseasonable warmth we're having on the East Coast right now.
It's hard not to have that kind of reaction, though, when you've gotten a little used to climate change denial from this Administration leading to the rolling back of many regulations that were aimed at decreasing carbon emissions and improving the environment. It's a little hard not to note that the president is a person whose notions about science in his periodic rants range from windmill cancer to having to start the dishwasher 10 to 15 times to get the dishes clean. And he says them like, yup--he really believes these things.
So I'm not really posting to make a big deal about the Tweet, because just bunches of people have pointed out that it was indeed not snowing today, and was, in fact, unseasonably warm. They know that.
And we also know that people who will pee on your leg and tell you it's raining will also look on a world in ashes and tell you to enjoy the snow.
It's just a matter of perspective, is all.
