Sometimes Celebrities are Stupid People

 

Today, the artist currently known as "Ye" went on Alex Jones' show and made a man who owes about a trillion dollars in defamation money and has only ever doubled down on his assholery actually become very uncomfortable like "Okay Jewish space lasers and Jewish weather machines we can takl about, but this shit--this is too far!" 

And just like with the infamous dinner with notorious edge lord former president Trump, Ye brought Nick Fuentes, who the Balenciaga-balaclava'd rapper really seems to like. 

But not as much as he likes Hitler, amirite? I mean, we have known this, but he was just blossoming with love for the guy who apparently invented highways and microphones.  And whose culpability for the Holocaust is just, like, your opinion. 

Don't get too deep into this. Yes, this is a racist man who happens to be Black. This is a conspiracy theorist spouting nonsense. This is a disturbing glimpse into the faux-cancellation/Streisand-effect pipeline, where admonition raises a profile enormously among the exact people you would rather not be subject to 1) disinfo and 2) anymore reason to ignorantly pill themselves over some bullshit. 

But I don't think I'm reaching too hard to point this one idea out: Ye is obviously grasping onto fascism/Hitler/Trump as a way to express where he is right now--hating. He wants disapprobation. He wants revilement. 

And as for me, Wilco. 

But to get where he is, you have got to be astoundingly uninformed. Like mind-bogglingly dumb. Like flat-earth-accepting, how the fuck do magnets work dumb. 

And it's okay. the dumbasses walk among us all the time. It's when people live their whole lives and never read Clockwork Orange or know what the movie is about and decide it's about something it isn't and don't know Stanley Kubrick is Jewish. 

Or maybe he knows better and decided not to care. Fash aren't fans of facts. 

People can excuse what Kanye West is doing by talking about his apparent mental illness or divorce or whatever. I think he's just dumb and recognizes he gets attention for being dumb out loud and on purpose.

But this is really not a long-term pose and also, too, nice job giving up on Parler--after the careful cultivation by Candace Owens.  I don't think we need to see or talk about him anymore.

His Dinner With Kanye

 

When you put all the pieces together, it feels like the attention-whore trolling event of the season--Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, goes down to Mar-A-Lago with Nick Fuentes, the Groyper berk from AFPAC, pretty much as his plus-one. And Trump is going to conveniently forget that even he thought Kanye went too far in his anti-Semitic statements not that long ago. And he's going to pretend he doesn't know who Nick Fuentes is--just like he once pretended he didn't know who David Duke was.

 

Hint for Trump (who was allegedly "taken with" the young man's enthusiasm--he was one of the "very fine people" alleged to be at Charlotteville. 

Some people are aghast--the Groyper King? At the Once and Possibly Future Winter White House? Fuentes is a guy who thinks Charlie Kirk and Turning Point are RINOS. Who's vetting who shows up at Mar-A-Lago? Even Charlie Kirk can get Fuentes booted from places where he doesn't want him. Ben Shapiro can look past that fucker and not put up with his anti-Semitism.

But Trump can't say no. A man who was president, is running for president, and who did have multiple boxes of top secret stuff stashed in that very hotel. May still be holding some shit back, for all we know. 

Trump can't say no to Nick Fuentes. I mean really? Could he? Wouldn't that be "cancel culture"? And can you fathom the absurdity of Kanye West asking Donald Trump if he would be his running mate? The spectacle of two men darting their delusions of grandeur at one another. Yet, Trump has to impress. He can't say "No" to crazy Ye--a celebrity. He can't say no to the white supremacists, the neo-Nazis. They vote, after all. 

He's just a manchild who can't say no. He's in a turrible fix. 

There are conservatives who are still madly butthurt about Hillary Clinton calling some portion of them "deplorables".  Marjorine Tater Grease just recently thought aloud that they were owed an apology. Like hell they are, and this instant is the exact demonstration of what "deplorable" means. It means straddling the line between knowing Nazis are bad optics* and still wanting Nazi friends. It's when you are in a place where Milo Yiannopoulis (Ye's campaign advisor) takes shots at you and he's an apologist for pedophilia (well, so is Mike Huckabee, but whev).  This little dinner suggests what deplorable means. 

Trump still is one with the deplorables, but for Republicans who don't like the taste Trump is leaving in their mouths right now, removing oneself from supporting him is still and always was an option. 

*UPDATE: I feel sleazy about referring to the "optics" because morally, if you willingly dine with Nazis, what does that make you, whether you do it publicly or privately? But "very serious right wing people" (hmpf!) already doubtless know perfectly well what Trump is, and will bemoan only that he is not more circumspect.

Kanye and Consequences

 

Sometimes people talk about "cancel culture" as really being "consequence culture"--you have a right to free speech, but not consequence-free speech. The picture above depicts banners unfurled over a busy highway (the 404 in LA) reading: "Honk if you know", "Kanye is right about the Jews", and "Goyim TV TV Rev. 3:9 John 8:44." They were put up there by a notorious hate group: the Goyim Defense League. They are appalling, not amusing, and they are inspired by the inane ramblings of an irresponsible man with a big bullhorn.

So, they are amplifying what Kanye said--to amplify their own message of hate. Kanye sympathized with their message, and they are showing him the exact sort of love he should have expected, because of course, other haters were going to notice.

Who else notices? People who see that banner in their community and feel a tightness in their stomachs, People who were just singled out even though they have done nothing at all--but exist. 

I don't like revisiting this so soon--but the reason a figure like Kanye loses platform or business deals is because that speech has an effect. He isn't thinking about who responds to that speech and what they do. It isn't that he's responsible for what someone else does--he's just making them feel better about their choices. He's not being edgy or controversial--it's the same hate as preached by thugs and has no edifying value. His previous accomplishments don/t elevate it--but his profile makes it more visible for recruitment by groups like the above.

Maybe it affects his bank account that he's "canceled". It's not his place of worship that has to hire security. It isn't his families' headstones being desecrated. It isn't his place of business that would be vandalized by symbols of hate or his physical safety he fears for.  And his co-optation of Jewish identity with Black Israelite conspiracy shit just feels like trolling. It feels like he's daring people to make something of it, hoping one identity camouflages that he is using the same hate that white Christians have used. 

Occurring against the backdrop of a rise in anti-Semitic sentiment and political Christian nationalism it's shocking. Seeing it celebrated by hate groups is instructive.

News that Ye is buying Parler (owned by George Farmer, who might be better known as Candace Owens' spouse, for all I know) after being anti-Semitic as all hell this past week or so, and all I really wonder is, won't that cause a rift between Ye and his fellow 2020 presidential candidate, Donald Trump, who owns Truth Social, where he goes to be anti-Semitic as all hell? (Truth Social is not being run to be profitable. I mean, not for anyone but Donald Trump.)

Actually, I don't wonder about that. They do not inspire a lot of "wonder" in me at all. 

NEEDLESS EXPOSITION: Yes, I am directly saying what people are saying all over the internet--Candace Owens got into Kanye's ear, wound up his ego, encouraged him to go reckless and racial and get canceled, and then suggested he could take up her husband's stupid social media platform which is kinda not great because of course! If you have your own platform, no one cancels you. From your platform. Although your platform can still get canceled.

I really think he got roped into "running for president" in 2020 the same way--his ego got blown up based on some comments he made about political aspirations, and Republicans ops used him. This is the price of a ridiculous ego and no self-awareness, along with being quick to blame others for his own plays.  

Anyway, good luck to Parler with their new sketchy guy in charge, and keep up the good work of doxxing all your subscribers periodically. It's very antifa of you. (Incompetence is the new radical.)

UPDATE: You know what? I'm used to Kanye doing canned heat like wearing a confederate flag on himself, but maybe I do hope George Floyd's family sues him, Because he got the fentanyl lie from Owens. And while I by all means appreciate trying to expose people who predate upon well-meaning people and perform some kind of tragedy-grifting--we saw that video. We saw Chauvin's knee on that neck. And if Kanye is sued, Owens also deserves her share of attention for perpetuating a lie about a victim of police brutality. 

UPDATE: This jackass is getting sued by George Floyd's family because a man's memory should not be abused for political games and publicity. Kanye could have continued making music and his weird Nerf-looking kicks without adding that to the weird personality-pyre he's making of himself. Also, what is up with this Donda school stuff? It sounds chaotic and not what kids need (parkour and gospel and confidently forming ideas before you know what the hell you're on about).

The Devil is a Liar

 

After a month of harassment because of having been falsely accused, with her daughter, of having somehow manipulated the vote count in Georgia, Ruby Freedman received a weird visitation from, of all people, Kanye West's publicist, who purported to be working for someone important on behalf of the government, demanding she confess to a crime she did not do or things would get very bad for her. She left her home at the recommendation of the FBI, and within 48 hours, there were MAGAs protesting outside the door of her home.

For a lie. This was a lie that started in the bowels of right-wing media (Gateway Pundit, who is getting sued now and I hope that shitty bullshit factory is tilled under and the ground salted) . This was a lie that ended up getting repeated by Rudy Giuliani and Donald Trump, himself (both of whom should be sued until so broke that federal prison seems like a luxury care home to them). This was a lie that could have resulted in the deaths of these women, who were only honestly being part of a great process called democracy and the damn valuable right to vote in this country. 

And for a lie, these women could have faced violence, and did face personal upheaval. Because Mr. Trump was a sore loser and because Kanye West was only trying to help a powerful man stay powerful. Kanye West is definitely, as a wise man once said, a jack-ass. 

Donald Trump lost his election, because, among other things, he is a liar, he was already impeached once, he fouled up the COVID-19 response with sheer ignorance, his for the most part not-bad jobs record was entirely wrecked in 2020, and he instigated constant drama. We've seen how Trump operates via intimidation: vide Alex Vindman, Marie Yovanivich, anyone who doesn't do his bidding. Look at how he treated Jeff Sessions or John Kelly once they crossed some sore nerve of his. 

The thing is, Ruby Freedman is a private person but represents so many election workers who have been threatened because of just this very big lie, that threatens these election workers immediately, but threatens our whole election integrity, ultimately. It's a widely and authoritatively debunked lie, but one right-wing idiots have been spreading for years without conscience. I mean: logic--how do you how many votes you need and where without knowing turnout in advance? The whole thing is too chaotic to rig effectively and you'd need an operation way larger than you could maintain opsec for. 

Facing an irrational and implausible confrontation with this absurd demand upon her character, Ruby Freedman insisted upon her integrity. The devil is a liar. And she did not lie. 

You know what? Mainstream media needs to make this the front page news-Trump is a liar, and he nearly got this woman and her daughter killed with his lies. They need to talk about Mark Meadows and the insurrection PowerPoint. The reality of the coup attempt is real, newsworthy, the only thing I want to talk about, the thing Fox News avoids when Laura Ingraham blank-facedly talks to Trump and he lies about gas prices and think the debt ceiling deal is going to be used on SCOTUS (when simple majorities put his justices on the bench--like, duh). 

(And I will never get over that we had an attempted coup--and it was for this fucking dullard. I've blown more intelligent things out of my nose than this windmill cancer, Greenland-curious, toilet-flushing, Sharpie brandishing, mother-trucking Space Force creating, ever-golfing, tax-evading, pussy-grabbing SOB and I would never endorse one of my boogies for ever-loving president.)

But it fits with the larger picture--get a confession of voter fraud, and stop the January 6 count. Discredit the results. 

They had a plan. This is part of it. And it stinks to high heaven. 

When You Lie Down With Rats

I think it's pretty clear that Kanye West isn't a real candidate for president in the strictest sense--in his own words he knows he isn't:

However, he was reticent to criticize Trump besides that. “Trump is the closest president we’ve had in years to allowing God to still be part of the conversation,” he said.

And West was eager to criticize Biden, and expressed comfort with the idea of doing damage to the former vice president’s White House chances. “I’m not denying it; I just told you.”

Add to this the revelation that he's regularly been in touch with Jared Kushner "almost daily", and it really looks like West has been selected to be this year's prime rodent dildo. It's pretty clear that yes, this is a Republican put-up job. I know a lot of people are concerned about his mental state, but I don't think he is unaware that this is fraud and he would ordinarily be in legal jeopardy for it--he isn't stupid. He just thinks Trump will have his back. (I mean, Trump totally pardons people who help him, right? So?)

I guess that's dependent on whether Trump stays in office, even if it's through dirty tricks like siphoning off votes via puppet candidates. Not to call Kanye West a puppet per se, but when there's a little rat hand up your behind making you talk, what else would you be?

He has chosen to be this rodent dildo puppet.
