No, really--we could be heroes...

I've only recently become aware of this subculture, but it kind of seems more plausible and kind of cool the more I consider it--

Of course, I'm talking about Caped Crusaderdom. It fulfills a need--the way I see it, people want to do and be good, take care of business, and stop the craziness in a world gone mad. It takes guts, a willingness to be different, and yes, sometimes a costume. One can even become part of the larger heroic community. If you hear that call--you are not alone. Many people take different paths; they become police officers, firefighters, EMT's, even join the armed forces, and they do a great, meaningful job. But there's just something about being a hero--becoming a part of that mythos and seeing a given job through. There's meaning, and the reward of knowing you've selected a path few ever would.

(Me, I lack skills. A magical tendency to get SF-genre television shows cancelled by watching them, and slinging sarcasm with a certain dexterity, are abilities that will not strike fear in the hearts of evil-doers. Even though I am a strapping lass, and can hold my own in a brawl, or a drinking match. I even have a partiality for costumes...but I think I shall wait until science makes my dreams of powers more realistic )

But because I think it's a grand notion--this video is for you heroes out there:
