McCain Iran-Gaffe Quiz

Now, it may not exactly be "common knowledge" that Al-Qaeda is a Sunni extremist group and that Iran is Shiite and rather unlikely to train and equip their enemies--but if foreign policy experience is what you want to run on, knowing that would be important. So what exactly is going on in this clip?

A) McCain is just old and jet-lagged and got confused.

B) He actually doesn't know what he's talking about.

C) He knows better and was using "Al-Qaeda" as a "talking points" shorthand, not expecting to be called on it.

Remember, there is no reason you can't pick more than one answer. And there is no right answer--all of them suggest something is wrong!

UPDATE: Although, the more he repeats the "gaffe", the more it looks like a probable combination of B) & C), doesn't it? Combined with D) He doesn't give a rodent's posterior.
