Fly Eagles Fly

Then you go losing, because the Eagles soared.  Philadelphia won. The birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. A minority-majority city Trump hates because we have no use for his ass.

I don't especially care about sports, but I love my city, and I love it when Trump is wrong. I am wearing green tomorrow and being fucking insufferable. I want to point out Trump had some braindead shit to say about Patrick Mahomes and Tommy Tuberville, and I still consider Mahomes a great player.  This wasn't his night, and I don't blame him for what Trump says or does.

But I celebrate my city and this win because, because, because.

Good things happen here, and we will celebrate them.

Sometimes this city wins. Sometimes people Trump doesn't support wins. That's all I'm saying.

TWGB: All the King's Goons

It took me awhile, but I remembered when Matt Gaetz used Twitter to harass witness against Trump, Michael Cohen (he was cleared of wrongdoing for that, but you know, and I know, he crossed a line), and then again, there was this time he and his fellows stormed a SCIF during Trump's first impeachment--an actual stupid and futile gesture:

So am I really shocked to see Matt Gaetz thugging it up the 2020 election way by declaring he is "standing back and standing by" in an echo of the Proud Boys

Of course he is. Little Lauren Boebert, handy as always, lent her 1776 spirit to Thursday's proceedings. In an echo of unwise guy Tommy Tuberville, she copped to being there to be a disruption and say things Trump can't say under the gag order.

TWGB: The Back-up Singers

Yesterday, when we saw J.D Vance and them come out to the courthouse to defame the judge and his daughter, I wrote a thing and deleted it and don't even recall what I said because I realized in the morning it was incomplete.  Look at these "pick me pygmies". Look on these little men. Look at these ants peeping round the legs of a great colossus who hath bestrided their world.

Look on today's brood of vipers in matching suits looking for all the world like a pack of back-up singers for the main event, Donald Trump. Did they sing "Da woo, doodly do?"

No, they helped Trump violate his gag order and tried to make us feel bad for poor old thin skinned and very chilly Trump, same as Tuberville and Vance and them the day before. Maybe Mr. Trump (not, "former president Trump" because fuck giving honorifics to rapists, racists, and traitors--which is this withered old full diaper of a man) can't violate a gag order himself, but what of his little friends?

He can't tell them to do that, and maybe he did:

Trump is not supposed to be violating the gag order by proxy. I don't think the court is supposed to be stupid about this--do you? And I don't think harassing the Judge's family members is in regular order--it's just bullying--obstruction of justice. See, I do say Tuberville isn't very smart, but maybe is dumb, but he isn't just as dumb as you might imagine but is very possibly dumber. He was on Trump's fat-finger speed-dial on 1/6 after all.

Maybe they don't know Micael Cohen used to be this man's back-up singer. Maybe they don't understand where this road leads.

Maybe they think they can loan their souls to Trump and haven't sold them. Maybe they think they can get their dignity back after whatever this is.

Trump doesn't pay back loans. He inflates his value of course and then?  Hopes banks are willing to negotiate for pennies on the dollar. This is what Michael Cohen was talking about--negotiating invoices of all kinds. These political wannabees are auditioning to play Celebrity Political Apprentice, but don't realize what portion of their credibility as a political figure or just a human being they are ceding to a racist, rapist, fraudulent, highly suspect and damaged fuck of a human.

Michael Johnson played this game, and I sort of wish MTG would put another MTV up for debate just for the real fuckery of it, so Dems can agree that this man is utter trash serving no one but himself.

Red Flag Warning--Who Are They Working For?

You know, if there are GOP congresscritters who are spouting Russian propaganda (and OMG--there sure are!) maybe we should pay attention to what legislative activity they also seem to be doing on behalf of Russia.

When Marjorie Taylor Greene talks about Ukraine like NATO invaded it and they are Nazi or anti-Christian, she is directly aping Putin, and what she is saying is pure lies-shouldn't we be very interested in where this fool, who has yakked about Jewish space lasers and spread Q nonsense, gets her information?

Maybe we should be more curious about why Scott Perry believes Ukraine shouldn't be supported because they can't win. I truly want to know where Tommy Taterhead is getting his extreme nonsense POV from. He seems to have Ukrainian public servants confused with Russian oligarchs.

TWGB: We Need the Wood!

There's hardly anything wilder to me than Trump fluffing up his crucifixion narrative while being literally the most un-Christlike person you could think of. Turn the other cheek? Love thy enemy?  Forgive others as you would also be forgiven? Oh, that stuff is crazy. He sure does try it though. He's being persecuted for taking what he hast (overleveraged) and using it to get more rich (or at least, pretending he is).  He's being crucified (being prosecuted, not persecuted) for his hush money arrangement--a business fraud, based on an election fraud, based on an illicit sex fling--selling himself as a better man than he actually is.

So how does this modern-day martyr show his Christ Consciousness? You know, the way Christ did, by letting his disciples know what Pilates' family members look like, so they could...use their imaginations. Who wants to tell me where in the Bible Jesus would have done anything of the sort?

Trump is no Jesus and Judge Merchan is no Pontius Pilate--what the hell? This is where my blog title comes from--get on down off that cross honey, we need the wood!

Theocrat Chat with Tommy Taterhead

There is a lot going wrong here in just a few brief sentences. The first thing I take issue with is that we need "God" in government at all. Individuals might take something from having the presence of a deity in their lives and have comfort and strength in their faith, but government itself--our government, is made of laws. Our country's population is made up of people with many different faiths. I think that the First Amendment to our Constitution is the remedy against the sectarian wars and religious persecutions our forefathers were well aware of in Europe--and Tuberville here completely demonstrates why the Christian nationalist desire to get God in government is folly.

Whose God? Because the various immigrants crossing the border aren't ignorant of the concept of God. It seems to me that Tuberville is concerned that they might be followers of the "wrong" God. All of my ancestors came from countries where Protestants and Catholics clashed. Does Sen. Tuberville think Papists follow the Whore of Babylon? Or has he been misguided into thinking "foreigners" are probably some sort of untutored heathens? Is he unaware that Protestant evangelism has penetrated Central and South America? The same religion, roughly, he himself follows?

This is a man who should be very careful indeed whom he considers to be untutored. I've met many a non-Christian whose grasp on theology is very likely better than the Senator's grasp on anything

Did Russia Pay a "Meaningful Fee?"

Well, I'm just throwing this bit from twitter here without knowing anything more about it--would I believe Tucker Carlson accepted a fee for a friendly interview? Let me think about that; it would be very unethical, so I'm going to go ahead and say yes, I do believe Tucker Carlson would do that. I also think he would do it for free, but getting paid if you can is so much nicer, isn't it?

It also appears that Putin wanted to just give one of his history lectures, about which he is weird and wrong. The idea that Poland was basically asking to be invaded by Germany (and I guess USSR was just standing innocently by like choirboys) is the kind of peculiar revisionism that goes so well with authoritarian states.  There's an analogy there for Ukraine, I guess (about which Putin has his own badly contorted self-justifications) but I just think, if I were Poland, I would like Putin not to be mentioning Poland so much.

I'm not sure who exactly is fooled enough to think Putin is stopping at part of Ukraine. I mean, people might vocally express their "doubts"--I just find it hard to think they are "fooled."

I see Stupid People, But They Don't Know They're Stupid

Do the big fucking Nazi tattoos confuse Elon, here? Because to the extent we have a potential motive, it looks like this shithead was fucked up about Asians. Also, Musk wants to pretend his weird Twitter obsession is somehow like Inigo Montoya but I don't think Elon's father got killed by the woke mind virus or he's doing anything especially brave by being a shitposter. An actually shit, shitposter.

Tommy Taterhead Calls them "Americans"

It's pretty sick that one US Senator can, in pure self-regard and partisan signifying, decide to create a national security problem because he wants to impose limits on the rights of women in the military to seek reproductive care. It really seems to me like he wants to favor the recruitment of white supremacist men over capable women who might be concerned that the US government will be happy to let them serve, but won't have their back over their reproductive choices.

He prefers potential domestic terrorist bigots over women who are not potential domestic terrorists, but just might want abortions for absolutely personal reasons.

And let me point out that white supremacists are a real problem, and definitely include people who have served in the US armed forces and were not necessarily expeditiously drummed out. And are capable of being radicalized to the point of actual domestic terrorism.

Taterhead goes on to be more explicit in his love of the white nationalists, to call them "MAGA". Well sure. I agree. MAGAs are somewhat like the Klan, but why are you thinking this is good, Senator?

Are we just no longer copacetic that the Klan is bad? I mean, all the Twitter dipshits who post "Southern Democrats invented the Klan hur dur dur" are obviously free to eat farts, because why did all the southern states suddenly become red states and why does the Klan endorse Trump--right?

Is this the problem good little MAGA soldiers have with the military and call them "woke" because they are trying to weed out the Mauricio Garcias? Because to be honest, weeding out potential problematic people is exactly the right thing to do. Is the military wrong to want to prevent the white supremacist equivalent of the Fort Hood mass shooting?

I feel like an American in good standing is one who recognizes the value and contribution of all our citizens and would not damage the institution of our military for partisan reasons because love of country should eclipse that. Tuberville is...not doing that.

TWGB: It's Raining Shoes!
