The Wake-up Call

A disturbing picture of a man in a lot of pain has emerged regarding the driver of the car that burst into flames in front of a Trump property in Las Vegas, Matthew Livelsberger--but the part I found very concerning is the messages left behind recovered from his electronics.

He describes his explosive journey as "terrorist attack" but a "wake-up call". Maybe in his opinion, but his pyrotechnics injured several bystanders, and the message urges potential violence:

Military and vets move on DC starting now. Militias facilitate and augment this activity.

Occupy every major road along fed buildings and the campus of fed buildings by the hundreds of thousands.

Lock the highways around down with semis right after everybody gets in. Hold until the purge is complete.

Try peaceful means first, but be prepared to fight to get the Dems out of the fed government and military by any means necessary. They all must go and a hard reset must occur for our country to avoid collapse.

This is suggesting militias be involved in an ideological purge. Pretty much the Trumpist program of firing the current federal workforce and replace them with loyalists? But the use of semis ringing the streets?

A convoy?

It's hard for me not to hear a phrase like "hard reset" and not literally think about actual neo-Nazis talking about a domestic terrorist "hard reset" program.  A terror program. It's also hard for me not to hear "wake up" juxtaposed with "hard reset" and not think, at least partially, of Duginism--ridding the capitol of Democrats by any means necessary definitely is a whole "deport the fifth column" vibe.

I think two things can definitely be true here, which suggest a horrific third--that this man's highly decorated, competent career, left him with PTSD and brain trauma that profoundly affected his mental state and that he was radicalized by his politics; it does not escape me that what happened to him as a man and a soldier left him prey to and may have targeted him for radicalization.

I'm going to leave this confused set of political notions aside and not pick them apart, for now:

We must take these actions if we are going to make it past the next few years in one piece:

We must end the war in Ukraine with negotiated settlement. It is the only way.

Focus on strength and winning. Masculinity is good and men must be leaders. Strength is a deterrent and fear is the product.

Weeded out those in our government and military who do not idealize #2.

etc., etc. Did "masculinity" cause his self-righteous suicide?  In what way is a "negotiated settlement" in Ukraine "winning"?  He talks about the elites and the 1% running things--but then thinks total .001% Elon Musk and Trump are the guys who will somehow sort that out?

The incoherence, and the mental violence of incoherence, is the point. The cognitive dissonance, the pain and anger that it brings, is the point of this kind of radicalization. It isn't supposed to make sense--the cognitive dissonance and the dissociation it produces, created a terminal sense of purpose.

What I am seeing is a black-pilling. The sleeper said, "Wake up!" from the middle of a nightmare. This act says "Follow me" but only to destroy the civil peace, to further complicate our society. It's a "patriot" being used for enemy action.

Here's a wake-up call: see what animated this act, do not magnify it: seek a resolution that protects our veterans and current military from this co-optation. This vulnerability born of our not protecting their six is unconscionable.

(Of course, anti-extremism indoctrination training is now seen as "woke". Very purposefully so. But I think the people saying this have not fully thought out what happened beyond this fireworks display--what do you get where the broken stay broken? And the sense of need to resolve the dissonance never really goes away?)

Maybe it's because I have some experience with it, but I think everyone is overthinking it, making it way more complicated than need be to settle on a narrative. Boiled down to ones and zeros, balls on a brass monkey: the bottoms of these two guys worlds' had just / was in the process of falling out beneath them. Divorce, breaking homes, deteriorating careers ~ middle age

Missing the point by complication: these guys were just suicidal ... Suicide by Spectacle

Yes, Ten Bears. You are right about the personal motivation, that's the susceptibility to radicalization here.

It's not a unique story. There are people to also hold accountable for aiming and focusing these men's rage that produces acts of terrorism, incoherent as it may be. It can be a story about both.

Never Getting Over It
