He straight up lied. There's no beating around that point--he also lied about the 1/6 choir--he bragged about producing their single and now wants to pretend he doesn't know much about that "community". He pretends he disagrees with Trump's clemency for the violent offenders sentenced for their 1/6 activities, but that doesn't square with his broad, conspiracy-theory based defense that the FBI (the agency he wants to lead) was behind it--
When what was behind it was Trump inviting these people to "Stop the Steal", a slogan based on a whole-ass lie, and Patel himself can't even admit Trump lost the 2020 election.
In a sane country where the truth mattered, this man would not even be considered for this position, because we would not have elected the kind of person who would pick him. This is why I cannot pretend his confirmation is in jeopardy. Because the kind of country that re-elects Trump can also put a bunch of feckless, kiss-up, punch down bullies and gutless drones in office.
This is a man who lied to the FBI regarding Trump's classified documents, telling them they were declassified when they most certainly were not. This isn't "law and order" behavior"--it's scofflaw behavior. He has shown active contempt for the kind of investigations done by this agency, and he will supposedly be leading the actual agency who does them?
It should be unthinkable, and here we are, thinking about it.
Trump is a clown and an old one at that--I implore the GOP senators who are VERY UNLIKELY to read my blog to please reject his stupid choice because some of you are not old or clowns and want a future where this country still has laws and the truth still matters. If you have stumbled on my blog and your senator confirms this lawless douchebag, think about who they are and what made them so gutless, and try to do whatever you can to ensure they are not senators anymore.
