Trump Sexual Abuse Verdict Upheld

A federal appeals court has issued a written opinion upholding Trump's defamation verdict which found him liable for the sexual abuse of E. Jean Carroll:

"We conclude that Mr. Trump has not demonstrated that the district court erred in any of the challenged rulings,” the 2nd Circuit said. “Further, he has not carried his burden to show that any claimed error or combination of claimed errors affected his substantial rights as required to warrant a new trial.”

There is something about this case that fascinates me: the first defamation case found him liable with a $5 million dollar verdict. The second, at which he briefly testified, awarded an additional $83.3 million in damages. Something about Trump was very unsympathetic to a jury.

And the thing of it is--he keeps going. Just a little while ago, he was soliciting (directing) hatred for Ms. Carroll by asking, not at all innocently, if women should be locked up for falsely accusing a man of rape. Less than 1% of rape cases lead to felony convictions. If this was just a personal, vicious thought--imagine nonetheless what it would look like in practice. What woman would feel safe coming forward?

The horrific thing to contemplate about what I consider the real Trump Derangement Syndrome (the sick fealty of MAGA that forgives Trump every crime because they sense a nobler purpose that has never materialized) is how easily rape--or if one prefers, sexual abuse, is not a deal-breaker for them.

MAGA sweetheart Nancy Mace rejoiced what she obviously didn't understand:

One doesn't actually believe here that she means Stephanopoulos (and ABC) should see this because they were wrong to settle so quickly, and she is reproving them for their weak posture. All things considered, she misunderstood by reading too hastily and thought she, a sexual assault victim chided for her support of a sexual abuser, was justified. (Her misunderstanding might be a part of the "vaccine injury" she mentioned having suffered in another Twitter thread today. She's been sort of an outrage shark lately. You know how sharks have to swim or die? With all due respects to the relative skill and time requirements of pimps, the attention-whore hustle--that, my friends, ain't easy. It burns a lot of calories.)

I've talked about Trump as a "Lord of Misrule" and a walking permission slip. This is the man--the pussy-grabber of the TMZ video. This is the man, he and his multiple sex-assault claims, all of which MAGA ignores. This is his fervent supporters and with all the photos of himself with his very good buddy Jeffrey Epstein that Pizzagate and Q-Anon folks entirely ignore. As well as his other associates. It's a real problem I have with TrumpWorld--the sex abuse. It's persistent and to me demonstrates a low opinion of human worth--especially female worth.

And if anything, they prefer to view his penile transgressions as a virtue. Just dominance-signaling. Of COURSE he can't help himself! So he helps himself!

And this thought is damning, alienating, the kind of kind of shock and recoil you would feel at seeing a cockroach on a baby's face. And the MAGA celebrate the roach. Long may his antennae wave!

That last paragraph! It really sums up the difference between what Trump really is and how his worshippers see him.
