Climate Sunday: Ghosts of Energy Future

Oil prices are plummeting, which might not even be a good thing for "Big Oil".  The Vox article deals with OPEC's reaction to fracking in the west, but in the short term, this is doing great damage to the ruble. (Watch RT--the Putin-backed media hates them some fracking, too. ) Oil is all Putin has. But one neat thing is--anybody who is somebody under the sky might try solar--and here's Dubai.

Firmly fixed in the oil-rich middle east, Dubai is doing renewables because renewables are:  renewable. The Middle East as a whole seems actually bullish on solar, and why wouldn't they be?

I say the soonest we try alternatives to fossil fuels, the better.

Saudi Arabia and company don't want us developing alternatives to their petroleum (whether shale oil or solar or wind, etc.), that's why the price war.

I agree with thunder. Stopping shale development and fracking is an intended consequence for their worship of mammon. I'm sure Allah will speak to them about that, eventually.
