Michael Flynn today gave his assessment of Ukraine: “Russia has achieved all of their objectives, and they’re now exposing .. bio labs that have been in there sponsored by the US. The guy that just showed up to speak to our Congress in a sweatsuit should’ve been thrown out.” pic.twitter.com/4RMYZcDgif

I'm pretty sure Russia's objective was not to have what they thought was going to be a three-day's war turn into over 300 days, nor lose over 100,000 personnel in the process, nor be down to getting their missiles from Iran and ammunition from North Korea, Nor be facing severe economic uncertainty as their falling currency value leaves them between the inflation and interest rates so steep already pressed (or is it--press-ganged?) people are still unable to make ends meet.
But Flynn is like a faithful little cobbler's elf clinging to his last, isn't he? I mean: bio-labs! Are we all this stupid? This is a guy who told us they were putting vaccines in salad dressing. So, he's out here giving off a Russian derivative of the busted Iraq biolabs thing the US was putting on to play up a casus belli for the Iraq invasion nearly 20 years ago?
Is his opinion of all our intelligence that low--or is it just him?
This is Trump's 2016 foreign policy adviser, who became his NSA for just weeks. He was sentenced for lying to the FBI. He was doing business with Russia. He wanted to sell nuclear tech to the Middle East. And he's on Steve Bannon's (another fucker pardoned by Trump) podcast. Bannon is an admitted admirer of Dugin. And Dugin is an anti-Western anti-Democratic hemorrhoid who thinks Ukraine's western turn was a problem that invasion was supposed to solve.
(You guys--does anything say "America First!" like anti-Western and anti-democratic or am I tripping? Remember kids, whenever you see "America First!"--it never actually means that.)
And if the war in Ukraine is about what a pity it is that Zelenskyy and them are more western and democratic--what does that say about people who don't support Ukraine (backed by all our NATO allies) and support Russia?
Yeah. I'm not going to speculate too hard about what it "really, really means" because some dumbfucks in our discourse are just contrarian for clicks and likes and soggy potato chip love. Do I think someone like Thomas Massie has a big old foreign policy brain when he decries aid to Ukraine? No, I don't. I'm shocked he walks upright and has thumbs. Marjorie Taylor Greene? I think she sees Putin as the boss-level Crossfit instructor she hasn't shagged yet. They cackle about aid to Ukraine because they hate government spending (TM) and it looks to them like a lot, and they couldn't be arsed to know what a trickle it is in terms of defense spending and what it actually accomplishes. (Very good reasons people like them should not be in office. Nor Matt Gaetz. Another Chiclet-head.)
I think the idea of right and wrong (regardless of your political background) has to have some sway: do you understand Russia is the aggressor, and can you fathom a justification for the war crimes they have done? If that answer isn't yes to the first, and no to the second, there is barely any conversation worth having. Flynn thinks Russia was justified and what they have done is actually successful--or at least he can fix his evil-anti-America mouth to say that out loud. They murdered people in schools and hospitals. They purposefully struck civilians. He was an officer--he knows better. They kidnap Ukrainian children to raise them as Russian. He knows this is a tactic of genocide. He knows they have gone beyond the rules of war. They are not humane. The war is not proportional. It was not justified.
I talk about how Trump's candidacy for president was supported by Russia, a lot. The necessary reason is because that support alone suggested he was not trustworthy. Why would Russia want him, especially? It would be really great if people took a lot of lessons from the 1/6 report, the Mueller report, the Senate Intelligence report regarding the 2016 Russian involvement in that election, and should Trump not be in prison by then, reject him entirely for 2024. Or ever.
And maybe we should keep any eye open for other potential politicos who seem altogether too prone to mouth the propaganda of other countries.
