TWGB: The Red Flags Are Still Coming

There had been some reporting on Trump's fascination and pleasure with the riot back in January right after it happened, but the entire Washington Post piece walks us step by step through the events leading up to and just post-the insurrection attempt. The unnerving thing about the enormity of the event isn't the tiny details, like Eastman's insistence that Pence could change history with one simple but legally dubious decision, but that overall--it was sort of obvious what Trump and his rabid fans were going to do.

Also, and unquestionably more disturbing: they are still at it. Mike Flynn and other Trump associates are undermining public trust in the integrity of our elections, using methods intending to drive election workers and others away from the process. They are somehow still pressing for audits of the 2020 election. I might like the linked story to be more generously sourced, but I don't actually put anything past Flynn at this point, and threats of extortion and domestic terrorism don't actually seem beyond his wildest suggestion. 

Propagandists like Bannon and Lindell are still promoting the idea that somehow, Trump is going to be proven the winner, or could be reinstated. 

There were red flags leading up to the violence of 1/6, but the violence being done to our democracy is still ongoing--and what is horribly, unforgivably worse, is that those who aided and abetted the events of that day are still in positions that enable them to continue.
