I read a really smart take earlier.
To boil it down, essentially what it said was that while tRUMP's lawyers are arguing that he has no control over what his followers do, the Republicans in the jury will vote to acquit because they know exactly how much control tRUMP has over his followers.

They really are something else--convictions without conscience, audacity without courage. The fault is in themselves and not their stars that they are his underlings.
And their conclusions and convictions are drawn not from facts, but from beliefs.
