Shorter* Lisa Murkowski

"Maybe the president did engage in extortion and create various foreign policy and national security problems in doing it, but where in the fuck do you sons of bitches get off putting me on the spot by pointing it out!?"

For a really long time, Democrats have entertained the pretense that the moderate or independent Republican still existed. This is because the media likes the idea of bipartisanship, but never really expects a lot more from Republicans than token concern or meaningless votes. Once the votes mean anything, and the concern that used to be interpreted as thoughtful starts looking like being a potential quisling in the culture war, once-cool Republicans can't hang. So the pretense of bipartisanship is all gone.

Good riddance.

Rubio made some comment as well about believing the charges, but being unable to vote against Trump because the impeachment is completely partisan, which conveniently ignores the fact that if he voted against Trump it wouldn't be completely partisan any more.
