Mike Huckabee is Pretty Gross

Former AR Governor Mike Huckabee (R) had some interesting comments to in reference to Caitlin Jenner and trans people in general:

“For those who do not think that we are under threat, simply recognize that the fact that we are now in city after city watching ordinances say that your 7-year-old daughter, if she goes into the restroom cannot be offended and you can’t be offended if she’s greeted there by a 42-year-old man who feels more like a woman than he does a man.”

Huckabee continued saying saying he wished someone told him in high school he “could have felt like a woman” and shower with the girls.

“Now I wish that someone told me that when I was in high school that I could have felt like a woman when it came time to take showers in PE,” said Huckabee. “I’m pretty sure that I would have found my feminine side and said, ‘Coach, I think I’d rather shower with the girls today.’ You’re laughing because it sounds so ridiculous, doesn’t it?”

A transwoman, regardless of her age and whether she was assigned as male at birth, is not a man. She is not presenting as a man. She is in a restroom to use the restroom, which is what a 7-year-old or any-other-year-old person is doing. The assumption that some middle-aged gender non-conforming person is in the restroom to specifically be offensive--is what is really offensive.

Note that Mike Huckabee, who recently was all about forgiving Josh Duggar for touching his little sisters, is broadcasting his fears about genderqueer people without  any sense of understanding about who they are and why they express alternative  gender expressions from their birth assignment. He's never looked into the facts. He doesn't seem to know, for example, that there really is no epidemic of problematic trans behavior (particularly not related to "restrooms"). 


But let's take a further look at what he's saying about himself--he's saying he would have used a pretense of being trans to gain access to vulnerable women. As if he believes that being trans is a convenient lie. Would teenage Mike Huckabee be okay with pretending that and putting up with the bullying? Would Mike Huckabee be okay with pretending that and keeping up the pretense (permanently)? Would Mike Huckabee be okay with pretending that and possibly having his parents disown him or put him through "Christian" reparative therapy, which does not ever work? You know, all the reasons that trans teens, instead of being "gay deceivers"--are actually suffering and committing suicide at an alarming rate?

Huckabee, like his asshole friend Michelle Duggar, are laboring under the peculiar delusion that it would be worth anyone's while to "pretend" that they are another gender for some nefarious reason. Considering the rate at which trans people are murdered because of bigotry, that would be a pretty screwed up thing to do, huh? Considering how many of them are murdered because of the screwed-up stereotypes perpetuated by people like Huckabee and Duggar, I think Huckabee is the one who is actually extraordinarily offensive. (Not to mention a person who might be scoping people out in a restroom or shower, based on his own admission.)

"Little children" aren't being forced to participate in an experiment--unless one means the experiment that has been ongoing where trans kids are supposedly turned around by being abused into gender-conforming behavior. To get to the nut of things--a little girl could be abused in a restroom by a big girl who was born a girl--and there are a lot more grown women who were born biologically female. So why specifically demonize transwomen?

Ignorance and the need to project evil on some outgroup to feel superior, if you were to ask me. Which sounds like a couple of really great reasons Huckabee has no business running for office in this century.
