Think Progress reminds us this week that we will be losing a champion of the environment when Rep. Henry Waxman retires.
Heaven knows the GOP side of the aisle will not do a fraction of what Rep. Waxman has on behalf of safe water and clean air.
In other news, President Obama made the statement that "Climate change is a fact" in his State of the Union speech, but a recent report from the State Department may lead to him approving the Keystone XL pipeline. Although it may be politically popular, I have a major disagreement with Obama's "all of the above" energy policy.
If we needed any reminder about the dangers of a pipeline project, here's one from Manitoba. Explosions are terrible news--but keep in mind that silent, hushed-up and unreported leaks are also pretty bad news, and likely with a pipeline of this extent.

I think the fix was in for that, all along.
Remember, Obama says things for the Democratic base's consumption. He does things for our large corporations.
