You Know What's Open During the Shutdown? The Healthcare Exchanges.

So, I want to get this one straight, and I am an awful political blogger--is it not true that if the ACA is going into effect right now, and millions of people are signing up to get insurance policies under the 2010 law even as we speak, would it not be that case that even a "delay" would be taking something that's actually kind of neat away from people? Because the early reports are in, and people are kind of stoked about their new healthcare overlords.  Here's some good news:

Butch Matthews is a 61-year-old former small business owner from Little Rock, Arkansas who used to wake up every morning at 4 A.M. to deliver canned beverages to retailers before retiring in 2010. A lifelong Republican, he was heavily skeptical of the Affordable Care Act when it first passed. “I did not think that Obamacare was going to be a good plan, I did not think that it was going to help me at all,” he told ThinkProgress over the phone.
But after doing a little research, Matthews eventually realized how much the law could help him. And on Tuesday, his local Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) provider confirmed that he would be able to buy a far better plan than his current policy while saving at least $13,000 per year through Arkansas’ Obamacare marketplace.
These are folks signing up for private health insurance. They are getting a better deal for their health care dollar. It is helping them as consumers in the market-based economy.

I might add--this plan is going to free some people who have been saddled with paying more of their own health care even through their employer-offered plans by giving them options, and decouples the expectation of having coverage from being employed--meaning people can walk away from crappy jobs and still be able to afford to see doctors if they need to, and maybe even consider starting their own business if there is something they really love to do because they won't be totally screwed on the health care side. So much for the RW propaganda of comparing the ACA to slavery, huh?

And just think--all that, is what the GOP House Extremists are holding the economy hostage to prevent.

Good going, you greedy bastids. Tick tock. Because the more time people have to see for themselves how the health care system has changed, the less they might believe your made-up "worst legislation ever" fearmongering. UPDATE: You might want to look at this thread for some moral support that "Obamacare" or the ACA? Is A-OK.
