NY passes Marriage Equality Bill--and predictable people behave predictably.

I could have blogged something positive about what a great step this is, how cool it is that it coincided with Pride, and all, but actually, my blog-muses don't really sing unless I'm complaining about right-wing crap. So apropos of that, here's Pat Robertson:

This whole "retribution of God for stuff Pat disapproves of" business--is this shtick getting a little old? Have an earthquake--must have done something God (and Pat) didn't like. Terrorist attack--pissed off God again. Accepted gay marriage? Oooh, so going to get it! I think we all get the point. Pat Robertson's supernatural buddy is a very large bully indeed! Keep Him happy and while you're at it, give Robertson your lunch money.

Also predictable--well, just scads of religious right homophobes, but of course, I'm interested in the responses of some of our Best of the Worst 2012 contestants. We've so far heard from Newt Gingrich--who claims that things will be "muddled" if marriage isn't limited to opposite-sex partners. Gingrich is an expert on muddled marriages--some of his haven't been recognized in all states, either--you know, like the state of deep, personal patriotism. Hand the gentleman the points for "shut up already about marriage, you!"

Also commenting was Michele Bachmann, who sided with the right of states to make decisions regarding who could marry, while also adding something along the lines of "there oughta be a (federal) law!". It's a very consistent Bachmann answer--it makes no sense!

Anyway, these are just some examples of people who are going to look so very....I think the words I want are quaint and horrible, when people look back the fight for marriage equality. They invoked God and weird Constitutional points instead of just considering what was fair and just to other people. It's fun to snark on them, but it's also sad.
