Five ways of seeing religion and a GOP Candidate

Now, I have the words to deliver a sermon upon the situation, but I lack the will. What words, indeed, would serve, when coming from a self-confessed atheist and Democratic party member, and unabashed liberal, and an admitted hippie? Why indeed, should any word at all serve, when a series of videos make the point I have when lashed together in a way my best speech would fail to?

Who would you believe anyway--me? Or your lying eyes?

In the beginning, the rebellious spirit was with John and in John, and John was probably right.

He knew these people would say anything...but things change:

And of course, not all religious people view him the same--some can't be won over--ever:

But then there are those that can:

At this point, one might be in a position to better grasp what Americans United and the ACLU are saying, when they heartily protest the concept of the United States being a "Christian nation". There is not one, single version of Christianity, but many, and there is not one version of religion practiced in the US, but many--and for some, there is none at all. And our various Christian doniminations are not a block, but have differences. And some who profess Christianity do so to exclude or label others. It is, like most human matters, quite complicated.

I can only comment that this appears to be a good example of why church and state should be kept separate. And how candidates can pander to religion--and their individual opinion can still be unknown, even questionable.

But what do I know? I have no religion, after all.
