Literal Pants on Fire

In the midst of the devastation and tragedy in southern California, there are some political animals who adhere to the maxim to let no good crisis go to waste. They're bringing DEI into it (I promise you, the Black person's water is just as wet as the White man's). They are lying about budgets, resources, pointing the finger of blame. Launching conspiracy theories

That many people cope with horrific events by just pulling narratives together to make sense of the seemingly senseless is a part of human nature, I guess--but that doesn't make it right. And when people appear to be deliberately lying because of a political agenda trying to capitalize on a tragedy for point-scoring purposes, that's something a bit harsher than opportunistic--it's predatory. It's precisely at times like these when people are least likely to engage their critical thinking mode and instead opt for the torches and pitchforks.

And that's why deliberate liars need to be countered. It matters that the actual expenditures for wildfires go up, but just can't match the pace of the actual events. It matters that you can't collect rainfall when there isn't any. It matters that there is no big old spigot from northern California you can turn on to make this all go away, and the municipal fire hydrants are for normal housefires, not like, for when everything is on fire. It matters that the reason for there not being controlled burns is that burns are already going on all the time anyway no matter what season it is.

And you can't even guarantee they would stay "controlled" anymore.

If there are people speculating why "the fire" started when multiple fires are actually going on at once--they are missing the big picture. If you don't know that there are 80-90 MPH winds going on spreading the fires faster than human power can get ahead of it, you're missing the picture. There is fuel everywhere and only so much water anywhere.

It reminds me a little bit of conspiracy theories around hurricanes or Covid--you can't beat the brakes off a hurricane or punch a virus in the throat. So people want human scapegoats so there is a conscious person that can be put on trial.

And yet people can't get with anthropogenic climate change--go figure!

Anyway, what I;m getting at is people need to not listen to folks like Elon Musk, Alex Jones or the incoming president, because these people have no damn idea what they are talking about. Elon Musk suggested covering your house with wet mud to protect it.

Just adobe the fuck out of your whole house--you obviously have time and shit ton of wet mud around, you bastards. This is a man of reputedly high intelligence. There's clearly a WHOLE LOT of misinformation out there.
