Two-Tiered Justice System Stuff

Josh Hawley, who is a US Senator and not some dumb guy on a barstool in Shithouse Falls, MO (does he even live in Missouri?) is going to pretend that Hunter Biden is being treated with the softest of kid gloves while poor, poor, mistreated waif Donald Fucking Trump, a goddamn billionaire who actually was president once (hopefully never again) and was supposed to be Mister Manly Alpha Male personified, is the most persecuted forlorn little disregarded pumpkin in the whole pumpkin patch.

A pumpkin who apparently did felonies. Not misdemeanors. Felonies.

Call me slow on the uptake. I wondered at the idea of a two-tiered justice system from the real perspective of the poor and minority persons in this country getting the short end of the stick regarding charging and sentencing alike. It didn't naturally occur to me that what Republicans were getting at is that they thought Democrats were just forever getting off with light sentences or whatever and somehow, SOMEHOW!!!! Republicans were just being charged left and right and for no reason, and especially poor, sad, elderly, possibly addle-pated Mr. Trump. a man bereft of opportunities to defend himself, barely capable of funding a legal team on his own, who has to struggle to fight his multiple felony charges in different venues.

The justice system's discrimination against blue-eyed blond billionaires is notorious, no?

No? Isn't there a history of the DOJ just fucking with Republicans until the sun don't shine?

Not especially.

Hunter Biden is pleading to things regularly not sentenced, by the original US Attorney assigned to his case five years ago under Trump's Administration, who was not removed by or interfered with by President Biden, and who notified Congress that he was running this show on his own.

I get what they really want to find.  Hunter Biden was supposed to be the gateway to a whole raft of Biden family corruption, and this seems penny-ante. But maybe, and I'm just spit-balling here, the lack of more serious charges here is because the lack of evidence of more serious crimes?

Maybe not even a Republican Congress can deliver on the promise of an investigation into the Bidens like the one that Ukraine was extorted for in the 1st impeachment--not credibly, anyway. So when Trump and his fan club want to cry about election interference because he's being prosecuted for stuff it totally looks like he did, consider that's something he definitely wanted to do himself for 2020.  A lot.

I don't doubt the Hunter Biden will be investigated until the end of time, and that for all the while he isn't more seriously charged, Republicans will be mad about that. But in the meantime, you have his nudes, don't you? Is that not sort of satisfactory, you slavering weirdos?

UPDATE: Can we all just fucking have a laugh at the pretend notoriously liberal FBI? That slow-walked the 1/6 investigation into Trump and also, contrary to Durham (about which, more anon) didn't really open up a witch-hunt into the SOB in 2016, either?

The bias claims of Republicans trying to work the refs here are pitiable. Just pitiable.

Well, I kinda want to toss into the argument that there's a very real possibility that while H. Biden is very fortunate to be who he is, which likely led to him having excellent legal counsel in his matters, maybe he got his deal because he had legal counsel and *followed their advice* in regard to his case.

And as far as it goes, I find media to be very neglectful in failing to point out that TFG is also living under a sweetheart deal; others in similarly serious situations sit in jail while awaiting disposition of their cases.

Finally, others in far less serious situations than either of the men we discuss here are sitting in jail while they await their arraigment for crimes that have not even been brought before a court, because bail laws are not fair and equal.

I hope this doesn't come off as if I think you've neglected anything here; I do not. You have one of the very best blogs ever, and that's why I come here every day except if the net is down. I always get here.

I think you make great points--we do have a two-tiered justice system, and it resembles in no way shape or form what the Republicans are talking about. You've got people staying months behind bars due to our screwed-up bail system, and yet Trump stole government property, has obvious means to escape judgment, and he doesn't have to post any kind of bond or get held due to being a flight risk?

Poor people sometimes die awaiting trial--in jail. This is why when Trump whines about how no one ever went through what he and his family are going through, I roll my eyes (the ghosts of Lincoln, etc. stand mute witnesses to the tribulations of the most- beset-upon president *as if*) and just think, "Well, maybe it's a damn shame Trump's constant criminality and urging of the people around him to engage in same ended up like this."

And the only thing that will delay Trump's getting justice is his own lawyers' tactics to try and run out the clock and the competing schedules of the multiple venues he is being potentially tried for crimes or being civilly sued in.

A mind-boggling disgraceful situation for an ex-president to be in, and most definitely not the fault of the legal system--but his choices.

Thanks so much for your kind words about the blog. I hope I entertain and inform.

I believe he didn't even have to stand for a mug shot.
Did they get his fingerprints?
Did they let him skip the mug shot because that lined paper would have showed his height as shorter than he thought it should be?
