This is either a picture of NJ Rep. Jeff Van Drew waving goodbye to the Democratic Party or goodbye to his seat. A hold-out on impeachment, he's decided it would be better to switch parties and join the Republicans because if he votes against impeachment, polls say he has no future as a Democrat.
Well, ok, then. But just how cool are Republican voters in his district going to be backing him when he basically switched just to save his political neck? Wouldn't they actually want a real red-meat Republican guy or gal in there?
So, his vote isn't really a big deal for impeachment (Democrats should have the numbers with a few defections anyway) but his party switch? To the current minority party? I don't really know what it does for him. But the price of having a yellow line down the middle of you could be being a dead armadillo.
