Moses Mike and the Parting of the Red "C"

You know, Mike Johnson winning on the first ballot was something so not pre-determined (tho' Matt Gaetz from behind his awkward nose-contouring predicted it) that when it looked like he failed, some folks ran with the story, but he relied on a higher power, I think:

Trump.

There was an undetermined "C" (the undecided caucus) that didn't want him, but he's Trump's guy. They "stashed the tellers" so the couple of holdouts that needed to be switched had time to be before gavel-bang.

Were they promised anything?

This is TrumpWorld 2.0. It's all sticks, not carrots, here. You know there would be primary threats and so on,

So, Republicans have been spared from the spectacle of looking for the moment like they can't govern themselves. Largely despite themselves. because it isn't what interests them, for the most part. But saving their necks does. Access does.

And what of ol' Thomas Massie the guy who didn't flip?

Don't know. Don't have to care, either. That's his problem. Maybe the lone independent voice doesn't bother Trump at all. Maybe it does.

People actually voted for this spectacle. Well, they've got it.

But as for Johnson? He was chosen. And he's a weird Christian Nationalist guy who lies when he prays.  But what a complement to a president who preys when he lies!

Some people will think a whole shitshow was narrowly averted today, but to be wholly honest, I think one was probably furthered.  But we will just have to watch all that unfold.

I'm sorry, but I can't make out what you mean in your third paragraph. Can you explain further?

The same applies to AIs as the old trolls now that AIs are the trolls: the tell, the mark, the giveaway is a complete lack of understanding of Americana. Draw blanks with idioms, canards and old wives' tales. Goes right over their heads

I guess the phrases might be obscure--"stashing the tellers" is how they delayed the final count from being gaveled in and declared final, which allowed for some cloakroom arm-twisting--

The ballot was held open so Johnson didn't face failure on the first vote.

Thank you for your response, VS. I am not able to read the linked article; can you summarize? Or perhaps state what "stashing the tellers" means; Ms. Google's search engine does not seem to be helpful at the moment.

On second thought, never mind; I have questions about other parts of that paragraph too. I'll just write this one off as something I don't get. Thanks.
