UPDATE: I considered linking to some of what went around among MAGA social media addressing this moment but thought the better of it. Typical people were typical.

Tim Walz represents a sort of masculinity (caring, dignified, emotive) which threatens Republicans because it is completely counter to the way they treat women and children and in total opposition to what they think a Man is.
I think I instantly felt something protective go off in me when I saw that kid because a young man experiencing genuine emotion--pride, joy, was a vulnerability to MAGAs. I'm sure they think it's good to whup that out of their own boys--but to experience a feeling so full it hurts is how a soul GROWS.
They don't get to feel that and are the worse off. Then they go off about their tiny bullying way.
