Flailing in the Scandal Mines

I just wanted to highlight this slightly missed major story from the halls of Congress that commenter Dan Kleiner pointed out--Jamie Raskin entered into the record a document that everyone should have already known about from the first impeachment with respects to Joe Biden and Burisma, which was: the supposed bribery is very heavily denied. The response of Jim Comer about this is "yeah, but our very respected tipster Rudy Giuliani never mentioned anything about that." That doesn't feel really probative to me, you guys. I mean, I might be tempted to do foolish things but having my whole investigation rest on the word of Four Seasons Total landscaping guy is a stretch.

For what it's worth, Rudy Giuliani is about as fallen a human as humans ever get. He defamed election workers, He's liable to get disbarred in DC. He's under a civil lawsuit for some eye-wateringly disgusting sexist shit. I would not, myself, trust the word of perpetually drunken and disheveled former America's Mayor Rudy Giuliani if it came to the goddamn rain without checking out a window. He's a joke, but here's the kind of joke he is:

This man wants to tell everyone they are dumb as hell if they don't think the little baggie of cocaine is Hunter's. Again, like no one else in the world uses cocaine, when My God! They sure do. And also so what if it was his? An addict relapses, news at eleven. It's just a story about a tragedy of how using has a grip on a human's life, it isn't a failure of the Biden Administration.

See, I don't like what they are doing to Joe Biden's troubled son. Take a look at how GOP asshats are using stuff from Hunter's "found" (stolen) laptop. AZ whackadoodle Wendy Rogers posted one of Hunter Biden's personal nude photos. That is revenge porn, and that is a crime. She might have been too tunnel-visioned in her partisan cocoon to realize that she just posted the private shit of a private person for stupid and petty reasons when she did it--but she earned the consequences.

But let me drop the tea on ol' Wendy--she's barking nuts.

She thinks Susan Rice, who left the job as domestic policy advisor in May, is somehow the real president (Because black woman? Why not say Kamala Harris is the real president if you want to be a signifying racist sexist twit?) And doesn't know the tape that may have triggered the Benghazi action as well as other protests was real? (Here at Strangely Blogged, we are ALWAYS remembering it was.) She, like Kari Lake (who will never be Trump's running mate if Melania has any say), is the reason AZ GOP is nearly bottomed out--they aren't a serious political organization anymore. It is very reasonable to blame Cyber Ninjas and Trumpism and coddling birther/Qanon-pilled subnormal weirdos like this one, right here. (She also thinks adenochrome is a thing probably. She's out where the buses don't run.)

As for Hunter Biden, fuck it, even if he is a fuck-up, that doesn't reflect on what his dad has done in office, which has been, especially economically, amazing. That his dad publicly and unreservedly loves his kid is actually awesome? Like, why are we trying to put him down for that? And FWIW, a lot of us are fuck ups having gone through less than Hunter has and without the public visibility, and he's still here. Even if this level of fuckery regarding his family might have drove anyone else to tragedy.

The GOP is flailing because the Biden Administration is competent and successful, and they don't have shit with regards to accomplishments to counter it with, so they need a scandal. A pearl of sleaze, however small--

When their guy has 70+ indictments and was found legally liable for sexual abuse. A one term, twice impeached fool. Do they really think Amtrak Joe has any scandals on the Trump University level, or the Trump Foundation level, or the first impeachment level that occurred because the very name of Joe Biden scared Trump out of his shit and he had to try and kneecap him with international fuckery?

There is no scandal in Bidenworld that holds a candle to the TrumpWorld GrabBag of scandals. In no way, no how. It is pitiful that the GOP tries this instead of actually thinking, hey, let's just be better at policy, or try to not be racist sexist conspiracy-theory-ridden assholes. Let's be better at politics and help people. They can't, they won't, and this flailing to make scandals happen is actually the best they seem to have.

UPDATE: Former Rep. Representative Denver Riggleman is assisting with Hunter Biden's laptop case and says there are some fabrications--and I do know Steve Bannon openly bragged about pushing the "porn" material and so no surprises to me. The provenance feels sketchy.

i mean, the fun part is that of course it's not acually, hunter biden's laptop but an image of the hard drive that has gone through SO many hands right now. like, three words: "chain" "of" "evidence".

cop shows have been running for seventy years or so. law and order on the air for how long? i really think that's why this ridiculous scandal isn't getting any traction: people are primed by police procedurals, they know how that sort of stuff is supposed to work. it's background noise by now.

also, i mean, also because no matter how much of a fuckup hunter biden might be, he has nothing to do with the government in the SLIGHTEST, unlike dolt 45's failsons and jarvanka.

One of the dumb problems with police procedurals though is that cases get resolved really quickly--and while they reveal some of "how it works" they show it working really effectively and quickly, which it doesn't, really. Sometimes investigating cases, especially convoluted ones, can take years, when tv shows make it look like they get resolved in like a week. But the sleight of hand the GOP plays within this timeframe is realizing that little details, like people admitting they aren't really *sure* now how they got hold of something like a laptop or it's alleged contents, or whistleblowers not turning out to really be accurate or unbiased, get lost in the sauce and people will remember the grandstanding, not the fact that the grandstanding was based on...

Bullshit.

I also wanted to make a joke about how the GOP wasn't even really particular with their whistleblowers paraphrasing Oscar Wilde: To lose one whistleblower looks like a misfortune, to lose multiple whistleblowers looks like carelessness.

But that joke just got waaaaayyyy funnier based on breaking news so I guess I'm stuck on the collapse of the GOP investigations into the Bidens some more.

Aaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh! Tell me that you're not perusing Gab, too. It's a recipe for insanity. I'm not sure what the "solution" or answer to Gab is, but it's definitely a festering carbuncle that needs to be lanced.
