The Houston Non-discrimination Ordinance Was Defeated

That HERO went down says something ugly about the suggestibility of so many people. That TX Gov. Abbot played politics with the "whose values" concept:

Is disappointing enough.

But fear seems to have won out, in that inequality won. And now people are protected from the irrational fear that trans people will use bathrooms matching their identity. For reasons that have no bearing on anything happening in the world.

Not for nothing Houston, but shame and all the shame. Why do you have a problem with transpeople? What is wrong with you? Why? People who go into bathrooms for the most part are just trying to use a bathroom. This is so bigoted and cheesy.

Vixen, not to put too fine a point on it, but this is why we decide things by elections. You should replace "fear" with "indignation." And when you accuse indignant people of fear, it just makes them more indignant.

Telling people their kids will be at risk from the lurking trans potty menace when this is not a thing that happens strikes me as a form of fear-mongering. I'm calling it like I see it, but can concede that anti-LGBT discrimination scripts can come off as preachy to people who are at best, indifferent to LGBT people, so some attitudes may be indignant as well.

I've noticed that a paradox lurks on both sides of what I'd call the "PC coin". On one side is an indignation that goes something like "You can't call me a bigot, and besides, I'll discriminate against who ever the hell I like!" On the other side is something like sanctimony, "I will tolerate anything except intolerance."

I have not sorted out what qualities make one more likely to call heads or tails.

Hi Vixen, Houstonians regard transsexual issues as unnatural and extreme, and outside their comfort zone. They regard it as aggressive and presumptuous when they are asked to jump through hoops for something with which they disagree.

Oh Look, We Found GA Voter Fraud

It turns out, it was the GOP all along--or anyway, there was an election-denier who weirdly enough submitted multiple ineligible GOP ballot...
