I'm too tired to watch the debate.

Left the house at 7:20 AM to get to work, left Trenton for Edison (that's practically smack next to Long Island) at 3:15, took a test for work about 5:45, and then drove back from Edison to Philly but a smidge after 9 PM. Discovered about four miles of my highway time were construction delays on my way back--slight misty rain here and there.  Assured my parents I was alive by phone, saw my spouse to bed, and am basically all about Wine O'clock at the moment. I'm too mentally broke to pay attention. So I'm following Twitter. I will link some stuff.

But first, Gov. Huckabee, right about when the debate hit BLM:

I'm not 100% on what cop shootings he means. There was that nice young couple of meth-heads associated with the Bundy ranch--no, wait, they were white. There was that one African-American guy who had a long record of depression and violence who took out his girlfriend, and then randomly killed two police officers like he was almost make a statement--except that was probably to deflect from the other screw-up in his life. And then...yeah all life is precious, but I don't think Mike Huckabee is getting who is being actively harmed by a biased system that protects officers who commit brutality. If he got what it was like to see people being annihilated on the street and stopped to think how often it happened and whether it ever needed to happen: he might want to hit something or set something on fire, too. If he cared about all people--which includes black ones.

(You can not expect better from this man on race, though. His whole head is like "Forget it, Jake, it's Gooberville.")

Basically, we are having a Democratic debate where a Republican is losing on Twitter. I mean like:

Vixen: I kind of want to take Gov O'Malley home to meet my Mamma.

Reality: He's running for president, not your boyfriend. He's married, and you're married. Be reasonable.

Vixen: My Mamma would like him. He has pretty arms.

Reality: Just...stop...yourself.

Yes. Flat-out yes.

Hillary Clinton has gotten better than she was in 2008. I like her.

I don't know what failure to close resulted in my Tweets not embedding properly, but I am tired, peeps. If you can figure it out, tell me tomorrow.

Hi Vixen, I came up to see what my favorite leftist thought about the debates. As the election approaches, I have put myself on a severe diet relative to reading ideologically slanted blogs. That, of course, means I scarcely look at the computer, since the whole raison d'etre of having a blog is to air one's personal grievances. (As one wag put it, once you get past the ego, the narcissism, and the bias, what do you have left?) So now I take a look at a few blogs every month or 2.

Glad to see you back, Formerly Amherst! The politics diet is a good plan--my time away from blogging refreshed me and I look forward to trying it on again when I get to vacation (hopefully Italy, this time) next year. I think I'm pretty flattered at being your "favorite leftist", and a little sorry I couldn't do more than an impressionistic canvassing of the debate. It seemed to be civil, not especially policy-oriented, and not entirely more spin than I thought it should be.
