The Public Flogging Sentence of Raif Badawi has been Upheld

This editorial from The Guardian basically says everything. As I've noted, blasphemy laws are not about religion--they-re about state power.

I don't suppose I need to point out how I feel about this.

And for the record, I am very interested to know what's in the classified section of the 9/11 report pertaining to Saudi Arabia. I'm not sure how keen we should be on "allies" like these.

This was never even in doubt. The royal family is completely beholden to the Wahabi clerics, and since their entire focus is on staying in power at any cost, they're simply not going to cross them.

I would really like to know what's in those 28 pages too. Unfortunately, if they are genuinely damaging to US-Saudi relations, they're never going to be released. We're going to need some more Snowdens.

Or, as Joseph Heller put it so succinctly all those years ago, "Where are the Snowdens of yesteryear"?
