--He'll Also Walk Dogs!

Deep down, I don't have a lot to say about President Obama's expansion of deportation deferment because it really isn't quite the tyrannical overreach leading to possibly massive civil disobedience and anarchy that some people want to characterize it as. It's a temporary executive order which can easily be undone by whoever follows him in office. Or, for what it's worth, Congress could, instead of talking about impeachment and imprisonment (?) actually work on passing legislation to reform immigration, since passing legislation is, last I checked, in their job description.

And the funny thing of it is, I think Obama does stuff like this reluctantly, really. I suspect he'd prefer to have the legislative branch be somewhat functional--he came from the US Senate and knows  a thing or two about the Constitution. He even commented that he pleaded with Speaker of the House John Boehner to get something passed, to the extent of even personal services ("washing the car" and "walking the dog").

Will this recent announcement shame Congress into doing the positive, rational thing of having an open, non-grandstanding debate?

I have my doubts.
