Climate Sunday: Welp--Another Reminder that God-Bothering is Bad for the Environment

This is just a friendly reminder that there are people who think using the Bible as their science textbook washes them clean from the degree to which green, green money actually influences their not-green-at-all environmental point of view. Chris Mooney examines the subject a bit at Mother Jones.

One might still wonder, though, what it is about the Bible-thumping view that makes certain members of the Christian Right more amenable to planetary despoilation. One might easily suppose that this has loads to do with the idea that Dominion over the earth is the godly man's birthright, and the idea that the End Times are approaching anyway, so we might as well yank out every bit of valuta from the ground while it is still there for the enjoying.  I can't say for sure this is exactly wrong, but I'm willing to venture a guess that the relationship between the Church of the Red Cent and the Eschewing of the Green Dragon is much more of a marriage of convnience than one might at first suppose. Mere religious, slut-shaming, gay-bashing, do-nothing but complain political chicanery hardly pays for itself.

It would not surprise me at all if carbon-pimps sought out the oldest category of grifter to spread their message, and that the Religious Wrong relied on the money of the coal-burners to keep their flames lit. Is there any wonder I distrust both camps utterly?
