Childe Rand to the HBU Came--or, Oh I give up.
I like Rumproast co-blogger Big Bad Bald Bastard's take a bit better:
But basically, it seems to me like his historical revisionism that carefully cut out what happened after 1964 and got wrong the part that came before it was mostly about being seen making the speech, not opening a dialogue. It also opened up an opportunity to be heckled so he could demonstrate that there just isn't any talking at some people. On the other hand, he did much better than "Accidental Racist", so, there's that.

One thing that really struck me was the politeness of the audience. Imagine the restraint one needs to show when some asshole legacy kid stands up presuming to teach these students about their own history.
I woulda chucked a shoe at his head.
