Two items of note this week:
Via TPM--
Months after President Obama put to bed most remaining doubts about his origins by releasing his long-form birth certificate, a Republican member of Congress from Michigan is strongly suggesting the matter needs some attention from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Welcome back to the birther debate, courtesy of Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI).
Birther Money quote: "Though I would like to have that question finally answered as much as anybody else, yet it takes my eye off the ball of all that I have to do," he said.
And another item:
KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — A Germany-based Air Force staff sergeant who publicly questioned the U.S. citizenship of President Barack Obama and said he would not show up for work until Obama had produced an authentic birth certificate is being discharged, U.S. Air Forces in Europe officials said Wednesday.
Air Force officials would not give a reason for his dismissal, or confirm whether it is related to any birther comments.
Staff Sgt. Daryn Moran, an ophthalmology technician with the 86th Airlift Wing, “is currently outprocessing for discharge from the Air Force, which was previously approved by his commander on August 4th,” Air Force officials said Wednesday.
A follow-up article shows that the reason for Staff Sgt. Moran's separation from the military has to do with his general bigotry, not the birtherism.
This should be well and truly over by now. These are deeply weird people.
