Rep. Hinchey: Bush Admin. 'Intentionally Let bin Laden Get Away' for Justification of Iraq War

I'm not exactly signing on to this notion, but I will say that I understand where this impression comes from. It's easy to look at the seperate instances of colossal Bush Administration screw-ups and go, "Well, this was certainly a mistake."

Then you start to add them up. Who makes this many mistakes?

And a pattern emerges. I'm not saying that the pattern is accurate, rather that the human brain seems to be wired for seeing patterns (you know, like seeing the face of Jesus on an iron). It starts looking like the screw-ups are rewarded. It starts to looks like the Bush Administration wanted to be in two really long wars where lots of money and effort were poured in, producing slow, painful results. From 9/11/2001 until the day he left office, Bush was a "war president" and the war on terror was the defining issue of his presidency. It comes close to the "truther" heresy (which really is an obsessive delusion), but from time to time, it certainly did look like decisions were made that did not and in no way would have ended either conflict. And it also appeared, from time to time, that the White House cynically used the fact of the war as a political tool (which seems to be the thing that really got the "truthers" going--"cui bono?")

I have my "skeptical hat" on, but I'm just saying, if you stare at the picture long enough....
