Rachel Maddow--Psalm 109:9

This is with Frank Schaeffer--I'm not sure how long it will be up.It seems that some Youtube videos are more likely to get take-dows.

I know, I'm down on the Christians....again. But I just want to square away where this sort of "Praying for bad stuff to happen to Obama" thing fits into what I had understood to be the New Testament position on how people should relate to one another:

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

King James Bible, Matthew 5:44

or what about this:

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Ibid.

Wouldn't it make more sense for a Christian to hope something goes right for the president? Isn't judging him without knowing him, or assuming you know, as bad as the one who in anger says, "Thou fool"? Because just like adultery is still adultery even if only in the heart, isn't murder still murder if you wish that result? And also, to ask God for this immoral thing He may be loathe to do--is that not tempting God? Using his name and works in vain?

Well, I'm a heathen and an atheist, so I've either made a Christian argument against this sort of thing, or ruined the Gospel of Matthew for haters. Damned if I know which.
