Sometimes I provide legal assistance. Even to Republicans.

I saw this little silly thing about John Boehner's preparation to raise a ruckus over mirandizing Gitmo detainees at Greg Sargent's blog and I wondered why:

Boehner told ABC that national security was Obama’s Achilles heel, then added:

“I think most Americans will be appalled that we’re providing Miranda rights to terrorists,” Boehner predicted. “This thing is going to bubble up big.”

Boehner’s office confirms that’s the first time he’s made the charge, making this a kind of call to arms for the GOP and the right. The reference is to this report in the Weekly Standard, which said that Obama’s Justice Department has “quietly ordered FBI agents to read Miranda rights to high value detainees captured and held at U.S. detention facilities in Afghanistan.”

Now, my immediate guess was that Boehner is complaining for the sake of complaining, the way the GOP has over, say, everything since the Obama Administration got started. But then I thought, maybe Boehner really is just confused about whether it is a big deal that these folks are being read some rights. (I'm not a lawyer, but I like to help people.) So here is my contribution (click to embiggen):

Maybe somebody could pass it to him.
