This will mean nothing to anybody, since what I'm talking about is so niche that it's impossible to think anyone stumbling upon this blog will know about it--but I have retired vixensden.net. I had it as kind of a vanity site, which I threw up about ten years ago using AOL Press (remember that?) with free clip art from Clip Art Castle back when they were good, and really free and had nice art and stuff.
Ah. Those were the days of creating cheap, fast, amateurish sites like I had.
It was strictly Web 1.0. It was all about archiving all my Highlander fanfic (much of which was written under the inadvisable handle "vixen69", which I adopted because it was inadvisable, and was a Highlander in-joke, and is part of my nom de blog). I linked for awhile to one of those free sign-in book widgets, and had an EZ-Forum for no good reason. I liked putting it together, because it was creative and gave me an outlet for writing and putting together something visually neat. When I was a participating member of the HL fandom, I got some traffic, but that wasn't really what it was for--
I had the site, to have the site. To see what it was like to tinker around with one. When it got boring, and that kind of writing didn't make me satisfied anymore, the time had to come to let it go.(But I kept it up for a few years just to have it, somewhere. I know those stories are on a handful of zip disks--remember Zip disks? and on the hard drive of a computer probably in my parents' basement. And maybe somebody, somewhere, might've even saved a text.doc from when I posted that stuff on a forum. If so--neat).
It feels a little weird, sinking effort in a thing, then ditching it. But it's like a Buddhist sand-painting in a way. Strangely isn't vixen69, and while she embedded political and religious themes in her fanfic sometimes, I like to be more blunt.
And so it goes.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW -- Vixen, I still love you. You're still today one of my favorite HL writers. Try to find decent fic today and good luck. It's all teenagers who haven't even had sex, much less interested in improving their writing. You were always in my top 5. And of course, recently I had a computer crisis of mass proportion, and had 4 hard drives crash -- possibly loosing your stuff forever. I'm going so far as to pay 500 bucks in an attempt to recover some of that old fic. Take pitty on some of us, and post your fic SOMEWHERE. Please??

www.vixensden.net still lives, because in the end I had too much poetry attached to it, so I resurrected it. Timberrrr! I am so glad you posted! I have to attach "Trigger Warnings" for violence and unconsensual sex to my writings now--sometimes they just seem amazingly blunt, even to me. I'm glad what I wrote is remembered. My series are left unfinished. But I still have them.
