I know, I totally slacked off this past week in re: the posting of things. And in my wake, missed bloggertunities abound. But I had something of an epiphany regarding the "creationist" mindset that I think I should relate. I give you Jeff Frederick--via Olbermann--stick it out for the "worst person":
Seems like people who are anti-Darwinist or creationist or however they like to represent themselves, are more or less "evolution-deniers". There is a valid, thought-out, well-articulated scientific theory regarding how various species came to be, which is the theory of evolution; and there is the opposite opinion, which goes something like:
Did not. And that opinion is followed with some variation of: "because social Darwinism is....", or "because it's atheism and....", or "because if God didn't do it, I'm in it for nothing". In short, they don't like it because they don't like it....reasons to follow. Evidence, testability, falsifiability, the fossil record, the DNA, etc, are just in the way of the big fat....
Denial.
So going forward, I will , whenever commenting on people who are ID, etc., prefer the term "Evolution-denier". As with "climate-change denier" and "Holocaust-denier", we are talking about people who, despite any scholarship, or evidence, prefer their take on the issue. And what they have is: denial. Not necessarily any goods to back it up. Just: "No. I prefer it be the other way."
