They are trying to tell the heteros something, but I feel like the message is for queers everywhere--Ron is not our friend. His ad plays club music and he wants to project so much butchness, but his actual history in Florida is killing our stories by not letting queer people be out loud, and he wants to eliminate trans people everywhere. Imagine just being the kind of douchebag who wants to determine that people who go to the potty whenever one is in public is an occasion to have everybody play pin the gender on the donkey?
Pete Buttigeig is the exact respondent this bullshit requires: he points out that De Santis is running some people down, but who is he ever uplifting? Who does he want to serve? Who does DeSantis think he is doing all this for? It is obviously for very few people. Or wait:
No one but Desantis. And I don't even think Trump wants to compete with DeSantis in this homophobia. Because Desantis seems to want to be eliminationist, but pretend someone will still vote for him. For non-eliminationist reasons. Like what he's done for Florida, like their insurance and disaster protection and how they are still at or near the bottom for student performance or...
And I say that is not how it works. If you project queer and trans eliminationism like it was your job, you will be judged for exactly that. I don't know what else was expected. But DeSantis doesn't understand that Gen X is the first mostly queer-accepting generation, and he isn't repping us, He's betraying us. And we'll remember. We aren't going back to anti gay Reagan era shit, Ron, or even 2004 anti gay marriage shit
We aren't going back at all. We aren't going back to where campaigns think slandering us is okay.
Ron, you aren't ready to be the boss of a country where Queer people are a whole community. But we have been. And we will be the reason you would wish to be Florida governor for life (even after leaving it in ruin for the sake of your ambition). Because there is more to the USA than your religious bigotry.
UPDATE: I want to point out that the Leopards Eating Your Face Conservative Reactionaries Log Cabin Republicans are mad as hell that Ron is rubbing their faces in his anti-gayness. I mean, they needed to only look at his policies to know about it, but my god! Why did he have to rub their faces in it? Can they not support Ron DeSantis and still have a little...Pride?
This feels like a "no kink at Pride argument"--oppress us but let's just don't talk about it? Wild you guys. Just wild. Please go be oppressed on your own time and leave the rest of us out of it.
UPDATE: Just read this link for other ways he's fucking everything up in his so-called "free state", which is nearly as Orwellian a construct as the Moms for Freedom.
UPDATE: Also just putting out there my theory has long been that DeSantis does culture war stuff because he's come to terms with his not knowing how to do the other stuff, but is too ambitious (or swamp skeeter Evita is) to not seek higher things.

Doesn't ever seem to cross their minds that eliminationist rhetoric is a double-edged sword, it cuts both ways. And ten thousand years of domestic farming has at least taught us it is necessary to on occasion cull the herd of the weak (minded), and the less than sufficiently evolved ...
DeSantis seems to have tied himself very strongly to Christian nationalism, by allying with the Moms for Liberty and other CN type groups. Many of which prefer Trump regardless because they perceive him as being more of a he-man type. He thinks he's aligned with the real cut-throats (can't help but notice he's either ignored the anti-Semites and other Nazi-ish people roaming around his state like they own it or he's deliberately allowed it) but doesn't appreciate that liberals also cull monstrosities by labeling them as such. When his dumb ass came up to Pennsylvania to promote Doug Mastriano to make Pennsylvania the "Florida of the North"--we very much did not want a part of that bullshit! His stuff might play well in confederate Florida, but his national campaign is going to be ugly. He does culture war stuff because he's running Florida incompetently and he barely knows how to act like a person.
I don't see him and swamp-skeeter Evita venturing too far from where they came from.
